Default Which Bow?

My son just turned 11 and he is wanting his first bow. since I'm not a bow hunter I need some advice. What would be a a good brand and model to buy without spending and arm and a leg? He is 5"1 and 92 lbs. with lots of muscle. And how fast will he probably outgrow his first bow? Can a person find good used bows for kids?

A great starter/beginner/real bow is the Hoyt Rintec XL. This is a bow made for smaller frame archers, not necessarily kids. My wife shoots one and it is a great bow. It is a Hoyt all the way through and shoots super sweet. I feel it is the best bow out there for beginners who are smaller framed. Lots of length adjustments and weight variation. Most other small bows are "kids" bows and just not this kind of quality. Good luck getting him into the sport! Maybe you will catch the bug as well!

Thanks for the advice. Knowing me I'll probably get the fever also. I offered to take the bow hunting saftey class with my son this fall. Who needs golf, right?
