RE: Is the camo for us.....or them????
I'm gonna have to agree with Rybo and the majority on this one - camo is for hunters, not deer.
People can't grasp that a deer has an entirely different world view than do humans. It's pretty simple really, humans take in the vast majority of our environmental impressions from our eyes. Deer, on the other hand, "see" with their ears, noses and olfactory glands. Sure, they use their eyes too, but not as predominantly as we do. If a deer picks you out, chances are that he knew you were there before he saw you anyway - by virtue of a faint odor in the air, a branch that you touched with your bare hand, a track with chemical residue from your carpet deodorizer. If you get busted, it's more likely that you got skylined or got caught moving. It probably had little/anything to do with your camouflage. I use whatever camo I get on sale that fits me well. I don't pay as much attention to pattern as I pay to fit/quality/durability/fitness for a particular purpose. I do think that you can help your cause by minimizing the size/profile of your silhouette by wearing form-fitting clothing. Also, that helps minimize the "wrinkling" material sound that you get when you stand up or draw your bow if you're wearing a gigantic oversizedcamo snowsuit. |
