I do belive I would send a letter to the owner of the store and let him know whats going on in his place. It really is hard to get good help these days.
Absolutely. Assuming, of course, that it wasn't the owner himself (or his wife) that was part of the problem. Even then, I would still send a detailed letter. People need to know that their rude behavior directly affects their pocketbook. And if it *is* just something employees are doing, they need to fired IMMEDIATELY.

ORIGINAL: atlasman

When I went back to the first shop with my Patriot and the owner saw it he asked me when I bought it and who set me up..............when I told him the story and he found out why I took my money elsewhere he almost cryed. I actually felt bad for him because he said he spends 70 hours a week in the shop just to avoid that because he can't find good help. Oh well.
I'd feel bad for that owner, too. At least he found out so he canhand out some pink slips, or at the very least dish out someserious butt-chewing.

I've been in shops like the one nucker described. Nothing quite that bad happened to me, but there's one shop I can think of where you get that type of'vibe' from them. The problem there is that it's the owners who act that way in that shop. They're not necessarily rude, but they are far from friendly and helpful. Getting them to let you test-shoot a bow when you're ready to buy one is like pulling teeth. And if they *do* somehow let you shoot a few, they won't bother to take 5 minutes to adjust the draw lengths or poundage so you can compare apples to apples. Needless to say, I spend the vast majority of my hunting/archery dollars elsewhere.

The sad thing is, the employees from the shops I *do* go to bend over backwards to be helpful, and they're just paid by the hour.

If you want things to change then you need to talk directly to the store owner/managers. Voice your opinions and don't keep your mouth shut. Explain the situation and why you are upset. If they want your business they will work with you, if not you can tell'm exactly where, when, and why to go to......

well the only thing you can do about it is not to spend your money there or step foot in there and by the way what bows and equipment did you settle on

Sorry you ran into that crap! I love small, independent, PROFESSIONAL bow shops! A little more expensive, but the service and the expertise are PRICELESS!! We have a "dork's" and a "goober mountain" and a "sports UN-authority" all about 20 minutes closer to me. Nobody get's my money but Blade Runners!!

Well, part of the reason I didn't throw a fit was because my son was there. I think teaching him that it's a buyer's market and you CAN go somewhere else if you aren't happy was more valuable to him. But if I'd been there by myself, good googly moogly - I would have splattered the walls with obscenities and questioned the heritage of every SOB in that place.

Really bad thing about it is it is a family run business - so complaints would really go nowhere.

Equipment I ended up with : PURCHASED FROM REBEL ARCHERY IN VICKSBURG MISSISSIPPI - THANKS MR PETE!

Me -

Parker Ultralite 31
Whisker Biscuit
Bohning quiver
Carolina Archery Foxfire sight
Truball release
S-coil stabilizer
Doskosport case
Beman ICS Hunter arrows
Muzzy 100gr 3 blade

For little nucker-

Browning Discovery
Kwiki quiver
Whisker Biscuit
S-coil
Trufire release
Truglo 3 pin sight
Doskosport case
Easton Fall Stalkers (his choice - the were "cool looking!")
no broadheads for the youngun' yet
The Block Target
