I think after hearing Dave's story I would call the game warden first and see if he would come along with me before I let the land owner know anything about it.

I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you calling that TIPP line and turning him in! He stole your deer but more importantly I would be he did it illegally!
