Default Anyone ever do this??

I have a summit viper x4 and I really don't like the bar in front of me while I'm hunting. I don't really have the cash to plunk down on a different top, so I was wondering if anyone has done this or do you think I would mess with the top's structure/integrity if I cut the bar off just after it makes the turn to the middle just in the front?? I looked at the stand tonight and it doesn't look like I will. I'm just wondering if anyone has done this and has it worked?

Thanks!

That bar doesn't look like it adds and structural support to the stand other than making it possible to sit and climb. I think you'll be alright without it.

DON'T DO IT! The side rails attach to it and would bend if you put any weight on them.

I have the same stand and the bar just isn't an issue. It would seem to be, but it's not. Just adjust the seat height, and the distance between the platform and seat to find the best spot.

How far away do you guys like to keep the platform from the seat? So your knees almost touch?

I like the bar above my knees, about a foot.

Ya..I get that. I know how to use my stand...have climbed 500+ trees with and I still don't like it. But thanks anyway.

I guess I have to look at the construction of a Razor better. That one has a bar that folds back after climbing and it doesn't seem to support much in terms of the top staying put.

It seems based on pics that the Razor and the viper x4 are basically the same if the front bar was gone from the viper.

Viper X4

Razor X5

Unless the razor has extra structural support built in to make for the loss of the front bar, they would be the same stand after the bar was removed.
