People confuse this act with mating. We see it in puppies and female dogs quite often. This is actually how animals show dominance.

This little deer is showing you he is superior to you.

Man, I hope no human ever tries to show dominance over me.

Now that funny right there

In Pa you can have deer. All you need is the proper paperwork. We have 2 sikas and 4 whitetails. We had to raise this little guy at only a few days old. His mother died a few days after giving birth. They are alot a fun to have. We are trying to teach it to walk on dog harness. It quite doesnt understand that yet.

Great picture. Just a couple of questions on owning a deer. First, what kind of enclosure do you keep them in? Are they like dogs where they will respond to its name? What and how much do you have to feed him?

Its cool but I don't think I would want a pet deer, I'm afraid it may alter my view about killing them...I dunno make me soft or something[:o]

I agree. It might be neat but in the big picture it could be bad if deer became popular house pets. If the non-hunting public thinks of deer as cute, cuddly, housebroken pets itwon't get any easier for us. Not trying to start a pi*sing match but it is something to think about.

Do you have to have a license to have a pet like that?

I heard you can own them in PA, dont you have to have an enclosure so big per deer? And what do you pay per deer? Are buck more?

sorryabout the questions, thats great though. Could you imagine the reactions you'd get at your local park with a whitetail deer on a leash.

You need a 10 foot fence for whitetails and 8 foot fence for sika. We have 6 deer we go through probably 300-400 lbs of feed a week. We have various food plots for them. We give them corn, sweet feed, soybean flakes, clovers, natures own, antler king, green leaves, carrots apples. Did I mention they love animal crackers. They eat alot!!!!!!!!!!
