Great pic but remember the bucks/males are always in rut meaning ready...rut is determined by does and does alone....like male dogs don't come into heat...they are there when the females do...

From what I understand, they make great house pets, is little buck house trained?
Maybe my wife is in heat then?:D He is house trained he goes in his box to do his thing. He will be going outside shortly though. If not in a year I would have to put trees in my house so he could rub his velvet off. I also dont want a scrape under the ceiling fan.:)

I don't think that this is true. After a buck sheds his antlers he is sterile until until after he sheds the velvet from his new rack. You can see this when a late born fawn comes into heat late into the season. Like in march. Instead of attracting all bucks, shed or not, only younger bucks that still have their antlers are the ones doing the breeding of these late bloomers. In a captive situation this may be different, they may still have the urge to breed, but they'll be shooting blanks. In the wild, older bucks that have shed are not interested in breeding and they don't.
