SO LETS SET IT UP. I GET HOME FROM WORK. MY 14 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IS WAITING ANXIOUSLY FOR HER FIRST ARCHERY HUNT. I QUICKLY GET READY AND OFF WE GO. ON THE WALK OUT TO THE STAND I REPEATED ALL WE HAVE DISCUSSED IN THE PAST ABOUT GROUND BLIND HUNTING. I GET HER SET IN THE BLIND AND I FINISH MAKING A SCENT TRAIL(HAWGS RUT). I RETURN TO THE BLIND AND BOTH OF US GET SET. "OK READY" I ASKED "YEP" SHE REPLIED. WE SAT MOTIONLESS FOR ABOUT 5 MIN WHEN HERE CAME A BEAUTIFUL 6 POINT, WITH HIS NOSE IN THE AIR SNIFFING THE SCENTS THAT I HAD APPLIED. WHEN HE WALKED AROUNG A PINE TREE MY DAUGHTER WAS AT FULL DRAW. HE PRESENTED HIMSELF AND "WHAM". HE RAN ABOUT 30 YARDS AND THAT WAS ALL SHE WROTE. A PERFECT SHOT(WOULD HAVE BEEN A 10 IN A 3D COMP).
WELL I CANNOT BE PROUDER. AFTER TWO YEARS OF CONSTANT PRACTICE SHE HARVESTED A 186(DRESSED) POUND ,6 POINT. I STILL HAVE TEARS IN MY EYES WHILE WRITING THIS POST. THIS WAS PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING DAYS OF MY LIFE, I KNOW IT WAS ONE OF HERS. THIS WAS A MOMENT THAT WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN BY EITHER ONE OF US.
TAKE YOUR KIDS TO THE WOODS WITH YOU. YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY.
SORRY TO BE SENTAMENTAL, GUESS YOU HAVE TO BE THERE.

Congrats to you and your daughter! Now I have tears too! See I have a daughter about to turn 12. Just sitting in the woods with her all dressed in camo gets me weepy! Her first legal season will be spring turkey next year, I can't wait! She has asked for a tree stand for Christmas and a turkey gun for her birthday.
Tell your daughter to be proud of her acomplishment! Bagging a buck on her first day out is amazing. I bet she can't wait for next year already!

Congrats to you and your daughter. Sounds like she got herself a dandy buck. I am proud of you too, as I believe more dads need to get their daughters involved in the great outdoors. Keep up the good work. Thanks again for passing on the tradition.

Nothing like their first. My wife and daughter both got their first without me being with them and I kinda feel robbed. I did help them with their setups and stands etc. though so can't feel too bad. Something you'll both remember forever. Congrats to both of you!!!!

Congrats to both of you.The best times I've had hunting have been when my sons killed they're first deer.I think I was more nervous then they were. One day when we've go on to the whatafter, those kids will look back on that day and smile. That's what it's all about.
