Default I've been living a lie

Yes it's true, and I must come clean. I've always stated my farthest kill shot on adeer was 24 yards. Well I was out back today putz'n around and breaking in my new rangefinder. I stood where I had killed the doe a few years back and zapped my tree....32 yards!!!!!!! I knew the deer was far out there at the edge of my range, but after the shot when I stepped it off and came up with 24, I just figured I was off, not my steps. Well It was my steps that were off at the time.

This is sad but I have a range finder in my pocket at work all day long in the office and I keep it on the passenger seat of my car when I am driving around. I bet I range things 15-20 times a day when I get outside. The people at work all think I am a little weird for this too........[8D]

I must be a freak then.
I can usually estimate distance to the nearest foot out to 25 yards pretty easily, to the nearest yardup to andpast 50 and within 1 to a few yards from there on. (course I was practically raised spending my time between construction sites and rifle ranges. Dad's favorite game was Guess the Yardage when I was a kid.
Sample. How far is that deer? About 420-425 yards? Let's see....... *beep* 431.
How long is that bearing wall? About 55 feet? Let's see...... *slick* Pretty good, 56 feet 3 inch.)

If you can get within 1 yard out to 50 yards 30-40 times in a row, you have world class yardage estimation skills. You should take up 3D if you haven't already.

Now the real question: Which pin did you shoot? Your 24-yarder, or your 32-yarder? [8D]
