I would guess 2 1/2, but you can't really see his head or how long his face is, so, its hard to tell.

Wouldn't this animal be have to be a whole year and a half instead of just a whole year. I mean the pic is in the fall but the deer was bourn in the spring. I'd say 2 1/2 yr.old.

In average or poor habitat he's 2 1/2 but in good habitat this could easily be his first rack.

I need to know where(state) this deer is in. In MI Upper Lower that is a 3-1/2 deer and a shooter. In Iowa, ILL or Kansas he is a 2 1/2 or one big 1 1/2. Location is everything, hell in Florida that is the state record,LOL

Here in WI that buckwould be2 1/2 but I have seen yearlings (thats 1 1/2 yrs)with racks pushing that big.

HUH???? a button buck is a fawn and not even a year old. A yearling (1.5yr) could be anything from a spike to a 10pt in some areas here in WI. So if that was a 2.5 year old it would be it's second rack.

His rack looks like maybe a 2.5-3.5 year old animal, however he has a pretty good sway in his back which is typical among older bucks. Maybe an old guy beyond his prime?

Rick, those horns are hardly the horns of a buck past his prime. They have long tines, the beginning of greatness in mass is evident but not yet fulfilled. He's just a young guy on his way up. Too much symetry for an over the hill member.

The property used to have some huge bucks in it but once the landowner sold it the guy who owns it now decides to shoot everything and it messed up the herd. So that's a nice buck for this place. Hopefully he made it through WWIII last November.

He's got a nice rice rack and it looks like a 8 pointer to me.

Ok he was 2 1/2 I had him age in MI. Had the rack made into a basket, turned out pretty nice and the wife liked it!!

You skipped a year. 1 1/2 is when he will show antlers for the first time. I'll say 2 1/2 for my answer. But, I'm not "always right".

No, you are wrong. A button buck is only 6 months or so. That buck was likely a forkie, six, or small 8 last year, and in that pic it is most likely only 2.5 years of age.

2 1/2 or 3 1/2 Hard to tell for sure. It could be either, depending on the area of the country, and even the deer. If that picture was taken last year, then he should be a good one, this year

I have hunted a lot in central Wis. Depending on the location, public, private, managed or not, that buck is a good 2 1/2 or a weak 3 1/2. With the sharp upward rise of the main beam, that signals to the younger side for me, so for one answer I'll say 2 1/2.
