RE: Enigma's first product
Interesting.... I must say that from the picture, I don't see what all the hype is about. I know that this is just a low quality picture and I need to see it on a large scale to make my judgement but honestly, it doesn't look that impressive to me. It looks like a mix of natural gear and desert camo. I am planning on getting new camo this year as I have beat my ASAT suit to death and I will still give the Enigma a good look but honestly it doesn't seem to me that is going to impress me as much as my ASAT, only time will tell though....
|
RE: Enigma's first product
NO THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! I'LL STICK WITH ASAT!!!!!ALL THAT DRAMA FOR THAT[:'(][:'(][:'(]
|
RE: Enigma's first product
I'll reserve judgement until I see pics of pants, shirt, etc. Its hard to say how effective it may be without seeing something bigger.
Still, I do like the open patterns and my Predator is in need or replacement or repair[&:]. |
RE: Enigma's first product
i agree with all the hype i thought i would be more impressed, I'll have to see it on pants or coat before i make up my mind
i thought it would be in 3d, maybe on the larger items? |
RE: Enigma's first product
Nothing that predator camo doesn't already offer. WAAAAAAY TOOOOOOO MUCH HYYYYPE on this stuff.

RE: Enigma's first product
i think it looks pretty cool - maybe digitized a bit, i can't tell. the pruf is in the puddin' though and we'll know soon.
|
RE: Enigma's first product
Just the world of marketing.:DInteresting to see it unfold. Don't often get the chance.
I'll reserve judgment until I find it some where for half or better off retail.:D |
RE: Enigma's first product
Man, you all are right...i can save me some serious $ if i just grab a gray marker and draw some sticks on my desert uniform:D...heck it's even customized with my name on the right pocket and the company i work for on the let one[8D]

RE: Enigma's first product
It is hard for a product to live up to the hype, especially the way it was presented on this board. The anticipation drove the average "junkie's" expectation way beyond what reality could deliver. Of course that is just my opinion so it doesn't mean a whole lot.
On the other hand it looks like it will be very effective. Whether or not it is worth buying a whole new set of camo for when you allready own effective stuffwill have to be a questioneveryone will have to answer in their own minds. |
RE: Enigma's first product
It looks pretty good but does it really compare to Fred's gear? I mean look at how eerily it blends into the surrounding. Never underestimate the value of camo.

RE: Enigma's first product
Why all the fuss over that? Looks like an ASAT knock off.
|
RE: Enigma's first product
To be honest, I'm a little surprised and disappointed at some of the "jump to conclusion" negativity over looking at a 3" wide piece of material.
Personally what I see I'm impressed with. Being a long time ASAT supporter, I'm excited over that I see. It might appear to be an ASAT "knockoff" at least I think that was how it was articulated but I see an improvement to a camo pattern. One of the biggest arguments against ASAT was green and green enviroments, It looks to me like Enigma has solved that. Although deer do not see green as green so the use of green might be otherwise overrated I see the use of shades of green which give the limbs depth rather than a 2D appearance of the former black and brown lines. Same with the use of the shaded browns, and the shadowing I see in that 3" wide material give it more depth. The browns and greens overlap the shadowing areas and It looks to me like you peer into it rather than simply see. I'll keep my mind open until I see a bigger piece of material like pants and a jacket but I already like what I see... I remember seeing the two, ASAT and the preprototype Enigma side by side and it didn't look as good as what I see on these elk calls and Enigma disappeared comparing the two....great things to come I'm sure. Looks awesome. I'm not going to close my mind to new things. I'm always looking for new and better things and this looks to be one of those betters. |
RE: Enigma's first product
I buy the cheep stuff from wally world and have been know to kill a few deer. Save my money for these high priced bows.
|
RE: Enigma's first product
Looks like Predator All Purpose if you ask me.
|
RE: Enigma's first product
I can see where it's hard to make an assesment on what?.......a 2" wide section of camo? But I am viewing it similar to Rob. I can see some benefits to this camo already that I wasn't expecting.
It looks like an ASATish type Brown/Black contrast but narrower and a little more "Lifelike" in it's feel but it also looks to me like the pattern might be more open than ASAT but with some varying background shading adding depth rather than just a monotone 1 color background. Interesting, I'll be interested to see what this looks like on a garment. I saw a small airbrushed pic on a piece of cloth months ago but this definitely looks more refined. I think it's at the very least safe to say that it isn't going to blob up. |
RE: Enigma's first product
It seems thery are rushing again. All this hype on here and no pics, now they put camo on a call.Give me a break.Show me some real camo.Stop farting around.

RE: Enigma's first product
It kinda looks like a bootleg copy of Predator , it doesn't look anything like ASAT to me . In fact , now I know what it reminds me of:

RE: Enigma's first product
Desert Storm with a touch of Asat, yep, thats' what it looks like to me.
|
RE: Enigma's first product
Maybe it would have served a better purpose to say nothing about the new camo until there were full garments made of it.
But then again look at all the press it got and it's getting and nothing has been made yet. ha, ha |
RE: Enigma's first product
I wouldn't say that I am "jumping to conclusion" negatively about this camo, but from what I have seen so far, which isn't enough to get a good/full perspective, I am not as impressed as I thought that I would be. There was an awful lot of buzz going around about this camo, more than pretty much any other product I have ever seen, so of course alot of people were drawing their own conclusions and ideas as to what it might be, some may have pictured the camo like it is shown in the picture, but I didn't. Am I saying that its not a good camo? No! Am I saying that I won't own a set of Enigma camo? No! Am I saying that I don't think its the best camo ever made? No! I am saying that from what I have seen it isn't exactly what I had expected. I am anxiously awaiting seeing it on a larger scale and a better quality picture of the camo. Maybe it is my monitor, but this picture isn't showing me the color contrast as some are explaining, and this is a brand new 19" Flat Panel Dell monitor, I am seeing a light brown/gray background with dark brown "limbs" with a off-white/gray backing to them.
On a side note, why doesn't a camoflauge company incorporate light blues into the background as when the leaves are off the trees, that is the background color alot of times! |

But then again look at all the press it got and it's getting and nothing has been made yet. ha, ha to see. You guys can come work for me....we'll set up a real estate offfice in Fl and tell everybody that the biggest deer in the US are there....I'll get TDWW to head the whole thing. RE: Enigma's first product
I agree Diesel... Interesting stuff. I have to say though over all I am not that impressed. I was really looking for something spectacular. Something off the charts. Way tooo much hype!!! It waould have been the best marketing / freee marketing because he had everyones interest but I think that the hype vs the product may hurt his chances of breaking into the camo world. I wish him well. I like to see the little guy make it big.
Hunting here in Maryland both eastern and western shores I just can't see where it would be very concealing. Just some regional feedback Good Luck Enigma guy... |
RE: Enigma's first product
What a tuff crowd! |
RE: Enigma's first product
I am waiting til I see the pants, shirts and jackets to form my opinion of the new camo.
Also keep in mind, it isn't always how it looks to ushumans that matters, it is how it looks to deer or other game animals. I'd be willing to give some a try, you can never have too much camo! If the deer see me, then it doesn't work? If they don't, well then it must? I know it isn't that simple and no camo will totally hide you if you are moving around and wearing no camo and sitting still can work too. We will see it towards the end of the month. 3 months til hunting season to see if it works/helps. |
RE: Enigma's first product
You guys are an EXTREMELY tough crowd. Let me explain a few things and maybe it will help clearit allup a bit. I just started this business within the last few months, not to say that I haven't been working on this pattern for quite some time now. I've been in the camouflage business for the last 10 plus years and in my experience with every camouflage pattern out there, I've learned a great deal more than the average hunter wearing what looks pretty to him. My idea of a good camo pattern (and I want to say up front that there are many good patterns out there) is one that works effectively in many areas and terrains andin most seasons. My idea in creating ENIGMA was to take in all that I've learned and use the BEST aspects of many other camouflage patterns and put them in one and possibly several different versions of one pattern. I want to give the working guy the best possible fabrics with configurations HE wants and make them as durable as possible so that they don't fade in just a few washings and wear like work clothes should wear, almost forever! Along with all these requests I've had over the years, to make bibs and Henley’s and custom lengths and widths for guys and still have an outstanding camo pattern that works as good, if not better than anything out there. In doing these things, I've had to borrow the money I've used to get it this far and I'm trying to make the best of what I have to work with, and that means packing sandwiches, sleeping in the truck and scrimping and scrapping for every dime so I can put it back into this company and provide the best products I can get made, along with something else hardly any of us are used to, great customer service! You might pay a little more for these products, and if you are, it's because I'm using the very best materials I can find and getting them made here, in the USA. If you want 1/2 price stuff, you need to stick with Wal-Mart. These products are being made for the serious bowhunter. The guy that wants a great quality garment that works! If you get any of this stuff and have a problem with any part of it, I'll expect a call and I WILL make it right, as some of you fellows know from my previous involvement. My credibility is everything to me, that's why you'll never see anything sold that's UV bright or cheap materials or labor. I'll stand behind everything I do and the serious hunter isn't worth a penny less. I'll keep the prices within reason and be here if you have a problem. I'll never badmouth any other camouflage company or product, but strive to win you as a valued customer. The reason I've only showed you the bugle covers on the web site, is that that was all I was able to do on my own sewing machine, just to offer something for you to see until I can get the professional sewers on this material on the 17th of this month. Please bear with my growing pains and give it a chance. Also, don't ever be backward about calling me with ANY questions, I'd be happy to talk to you. Thanks for letting me spout off a bit!

RE: Enigma's first product
Wish you luck. There is always room for more camo in my collection. I am a camo junkie. BTW guys; does this not blend in very well. This is one of my patterns; am I sticking out too much?
HCH![]() ![]() |
RE: Enigma's first product
I think the vast majority of folks would be satisfied to see a square yard of material held up. That can't be too hard in 2006. You must know someone who has at least a camera phone. You are quickly missing the peak of your hype. If you have the fabric then many feel you are just dileberatly keeping your hopeful consumers in the dark.
Timing is everything. Good luck with it. I like camo too. Dayton |
RE: Enigma's first product
Good points Ranger. The photo of the bugle cover just doesn't show enough for me to make a solid decision.I haven't been super-duper happy with the 'designer' camo lately, it's like they're trying to sell wallpaper, not good concealment. And Enigma may be the new threads I buy, but time ain't standing still, at least not where I am. Hope it works out, It takes balls to make those kind of sacrifices.
|
RE: Enigma's first product
Here ya go! This is an approximate 38" X 26" shot of a piece of fabric. Now keep in mind that your monitor may not render the colors as they really are.

RE: Enigma's first product
No comment; I like Rob. I do wish you the best.

RE: Enigma's first product
You really need to see any camo used in the way it is intended, on clothing, blinds, etc., but in the environment, not ona computer screen. When you see it in the woods, then tell me if you like what you see. No disrespect intended.
|
RE: Enigma's first product
There you go, right from the horse's mouth and you can't get it any more real or a better explanation. AND, Don't make your assumptions by looking at this example on the webpage in front of you. Remember it is not TO SCALE..it is a 38" piece of material shrunk to make it fit on your computer screen AND, until you see it in the woods enviroment, don't be hasty to judge it, like others that don't appear to the eye, I've seen this disappear next to other camos....
Feedback is important but HNI rules state that no product bashing will be tolerated so a few of you may see your "comments" missing. |
RE: Enigma's first product
Now that is better. Honestly, that looks so much better than the bugle covers do. The colors show up much better and it looks like it has more contrast. What the heck, I will give it a try this year.
Chuck, I hope you don't mind, but I took that picture and shrunk it down a little bit and added it into the background of a game camera picture I had. I figure this may give everyone a little better representation of how the camo would look in the woods. It seems to really blend in very well, much better than I figured it would based on the bugle cover picture. ![]() |
RE: Enigma's first product
Buck, that's very interesting and to think, the scale is incorrect and it still looks good, nice going.
|
RE: Enigma's first product
I'm not much on shopping for clothing when hunting,( red & black checkered jackets with black wool pants killed a lot of deer).
With that said ,I think thats a deep looking pattern, very 3 dimensional. It's nice to see someone playing outside the fence. good luck |
