Nice mount. The other day i saw a buck on the side of the road it looked like it weight 200 pounds. The antler base was about five inches around. Would Have been a real nice buck. I hate to see when any deer get hit.

I thought many of you might enjoy it. It's not something you get to see everyday at least not here in PA. I'm not sure what fer permit he received but I do know it was legally mounted because his taxidermist wouldn't have done it otherwise because they too are under legal contracts. I'm sure refering to cardeer's post that it was once $10 a point or something like that. Laws have changed so I'd imagine a call to the local warden is necessary. I'm looking into picking up fresh roadkills to salvage parts to train my little tracking Dachshund in the other thread. I'm checking into what I have to do to legally do that. Like I said, laws have changed about alot of that.

Rob,
2 words.......crop damage.

Find a farmer or 2 that are shooting antlerless deer for crop damage. and that should be a good source (maybe even find a new place to help thin the herd come fall?)

I would love to shoot a velvet deer. I am going to Montana next year in november but I am kicking the idea around of going in early sepmtember to get a velvet deer. Great pic Rob. Thanks for sharing.

Rob, Nice pic!!!!!!! I believe its still 10 bucks a point. I have a set of antlers I bought on ebay getting velvet restored on its rack. I always wanted a velvet mount I figured its the only way I will get one. I hate to see when deer get hit especially deer of that size.:(
