Well my one hunting buddy hooked me up with some Bow gear. Last year was my first year of hunting all I did was shotgun. This year I wanted to try bow since the deer by me are out more durring bow then shotgun season that is only 7 days long. So today I bought a used Oneida TomCat with a pengelum site and quick with a case and some pratice arrows and also a almost new Darton Apache bow with a quik and sites. I got all of this for just $75. I am going to use the Darton for the Carp in our pond and creek that connect to the fox river and the Tomcat for the deer.
This will be my first time using a bow and I would think the Carp setupshould help me a little. I have to say the one thing I have to get use to is the pull. I have pulled these bows only about 20 times today and my arms are feeling it.
I am just wondering what I need to do to get ready for bow season. It seems like the shotgun was a lot simpler to get setup for.
Thanks

first of all get the draw length and the poundage set, u dont want to try and pull a ton and it sounds like u maybe doing that after 20 times.Remeber it doesnt have to be blazing fast to kill deer.have it to where u can draw it back easily and where u can draw it back sitting. then u can go from there. You can also hurt yourself your draw length being too long.Get all this checked out and then after that u can begin tweeking the sights and the arrow rest depending on what you get.As for sight and rest recommendations.Go simple first,I would go with like a copper john dead nuts sight and a whisker biskit.I know people are going to start over the whisker biskit but its a fool proof rest and it does the job well
