i myself sometimes use a mask for early season but usually not, and for later on when its colder i use one just to stay warm, but usually pull it down when deer are coming

I use a face mask. I have a light one (mesh like) for the warmer early fall hunting and a fleese one for when it gets colder.

For whitetail treestand hunting, I use a Scent Lok liner headcover with 3-D leaf attached (my wife customized it with a little sewing). The only part of my body exposed are my eyes, even in the hot summer days oflate August when the the opener to whitetail season begins. The liner system breaths well and is very light.

While bowhunting elk on the ground when its hot, I roll theScent Lok liner head cover up onto the top of my head since it would be to hot while hiking around with it down. When I set up on a bull that is closing in its easy topull it down over my face.

For what it is worth I wear gloves & nothing covering my face for the last 2 seasons. I have my hat pulled low and generally have a high collar so part of my face is covered anyway. If I am in sub-zero then I will have a facemask of course....my reasoning is there is much more to be concerned about with breaking up my outline than a deer spotting my partialy exposed mug...

I use a light weight mesh mask in warm weather and a full length camo ski mask in cold weather. But that was when I was using a peep. Now that I'm peepless, I don't know how that would affect my kisser button / anchor point.

When I'm staring eye to eye at a deer at 15 yards I like my face covered up.

Does the camo paint have a scent that deer can smell?

I use a $3 face net from Walmart. Plus it helps when sitting inside the DB blind.

I wear a face mask 75% of the time. The other 25% of the time i wear my hat low with my coat collar pulled up and that seems to work just as well as the face mask.

100% of the time I wear bear skin. No real reason beside what is comfrontable in. Somtimes I wear the half neck warmer when it is cold.
