quick question

Default quick question

i'm hanging my bow up on the wall. i was going to hang it with 2 hooks from the string but mydad says it will strech the string. i think he's crazy the stringcan hold 60 lb how would 4 more lbs mess it up. feedbackneeded now please thanks

I don't think it will stretch the string, but it WILL damage it. Hanging in one positon like that will "dent' the string and weaken the fibers where it's hanging. Your better bet would be to take a 2 x 4 or something similar and make a rack of sorts. Like you would see at a pro shop. Drill a hole in it and insert a 3/4 or 1" dowel rod. Hang the bow from that. I wouldn't use hooks on the string.

Well I doubt you'll screw up anything. You certainly won't strech it. Think about the tension on the string from your limbs? What poundage is your bow set at?

That's how I do it. You can buy these hooks at Lowe's or Home Depot for under a buck apiece.

Would it really damage the string? My bet is no not at all. I don't see how hanging it could do anything near the wear and tear the tension and then pulling on/shooting the bow could. That string is designed for weights exceeding 80#s repeatedly stressed in one spot. If hanging it by the string would screw it up then you would be changing your string every other week.
