Very nice buck and great story. The two hunters who eventually found the buckshowed greatness when they returned the buck to the hunter who shot it. They are true sportsmen!

Pennsylvania is where you'll find these monsters. They (PA) have antler restrictions which enable a buck to reach this kind of maturity. Nice buck my friend, good hunting.

Another thing that helps are all the small blocks of private land that no one is allowed to hunt it allows boys like this to get good and old like this guy we estimate at 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 years of age. It kind of stinks when people move in the area and don't let any one hunt, But when you get permission to hunt along ground like that it really can give you pay dirt!! Antler restrictions can help but the real reason we have some monsters lurking around here is having areas of safe harbor, A big old boy like this is about 92 percent nocturnal and there are 2 basic reasons he will show him self to a hunter, Either he can loose his head during a lustfull session of the rut, or some one steps on their safe grounds. This poor boy was a victum of lust!!
And thats the rest of the story GOOD DAY!!

It's pure and simple fact that a buck that can reach his maturity has the potential to be completely awesome, and that depends on genetics nationwide...in the midwest some bucks are at the top of their game by 4.5 but in other parts of the country they simply need more time. Antler restrictions and quality deer management nationwide will allow these bucks to be able to grow up and to meet their full potential. I cheered long, loud, and hard when PA went to AR's and preached that it would pay dividends and it has over and over again. The loser browner downers that never learned to hunt that complain about not seeing any deer now will hopefully soon take up bunko with their wives and leave the timbers to serious and educated sportsmen. Congrats to PA on a monster of a buck and hopefully many more to come!

The recent push for QDM throughout the hunting shows and forums like this one has made the hunting better for everyone. There are still a large number out there who think it is better to shoot a 1.5 year old buck than a mature doe, but at least their numbers are reducing. It sure would be nice if everyone in the woods was as honest as the gentlemen in this particular story.
