Well we now know why G5 Outdoors is involved with the the World Deer Blunting Association. G5 Outdoors is making the freaking blunting dart tips that the Mighty Blunters are going to shoot the deer with. :-(

From the article below:
"Lou Grace, a co-owner of an outdoor manufacturer in Memphis, Mich., that is working on a tranquilizer dart for the league, is hopeful it can be a positive for the industry and economy."

Very interesting discussion on other sites as well. I've never seen hunters unite like this before.

This is the response that was e-mailed to me today; Mr. Stawiarski had requested I call him, which I did almost immediately. I got his voice mail, and left a message. I received a copy of their press release this morning in my in-box. Here it is:

XTREME SPORTS GROUP
June 12, 2006

Thank you for your recent email pertaining to the WHA. We are listening to all of our customers regarding the WHA. In response to your feedback, we have spoken to the Chairman of the WHA over the weekend to discuss last week’s events. Both parties are discussing this issue again this week. We have not signed any formal agreements to be a sponsor. We will issue a Press Release upon our final decision.

It is our goal as a company to do what is best for our customers, retailers, hunting industry and our company. Again thank you for your input towards the WHA. Again, we are listening to everyone’s opinions before we make a final decision.

Thank you,

Jefffrey S. Stawiarski
President

This is a shame and a "black eye" for hunting and hunters alike. Only time will tell to see what sponsers pull out and what sponsers sign up for this crap. Personally I hope this fails miserably and goes away before it even gets started.

I just heard back from Texas Parks and Wildlife. They are firmly against the WHA and will not allow these hunts to take place in TX. The law in TX states that,"No projectile may be poisoned, drugged, or explosive." So with the drugged dart it will be illegal here. Tx does allow some goofy stuff but they are on the right side of this one!

It's illegal as well in PA however Private Pens are not regulated by the PGC...I don't know if any other laws exist that govern pens, I doubt it.

Here is a link to an article on the BowHuntingTexas website that some might find interesting.

http://www.bowhuntingtexas.com/articles_bowhuntingtexas_com/wha/crazy-1.htm

It helps to explain G5's "interest" in the tour.

I decided to write up a brief journal entry on this whole fiasco. Nothing too elaborate because I didn't have a lot of time, but I think I made my point.

Bravo Justin! You summed up my feelings on this exactly. I'm proud to have you as my spokesman.

Mylocal newspaper wants to write a story on hunter reaction to the WHA. Do you mind if I give her the link to your article?
