Hey Nodog, do you have a pricefor that Northstar? That thing looks awesome. I was gonna buy the Summit Bullet Backpacker because I like the fold flat option for carryingbut I like the looks of that one better. It may just be my next climber!

As long as I take my time the cables do not make a noise when I'm hooking them up. When using a climber, I always allow myself an extra 20 minutes to make sure I do not rush.

Yep, I've had mine for about 4 seasons now and I have the same problem. I have noticed that if I take my time though I can significantly reduce the noise.

I honestly don't know how you guys can bow-hunt out of some of these climbers. Simple is better, I'll stick with my silent partner....Lone Wolf.....

Simple is better! I went back and forth on getting the North Star over some others which were very small. Had a chance to see this stand at the mega show in HarriburgPA (I don't know why this begins typing in this type) It does fold flat and is light along with it's other features, but it is far from simple even though it is supposed to be simple to use. I'm trying it out is all I can say for now about this stand. It was and is 269 from most places. Keystone is where I got mine and recommend them. There is a hunter model that has the bar. According to Keystone the one I bought does have it in there and can be used for sit and climb.

I do like the way the thing is supposed to work. Hope it lives up too it.

I love my Summit Viper X4 and think it's pretty quiet. Like VAhuntr, if I take my time and don't rush anything to get setup, I am fine. The rubber coated cables on the Viper don't bang and clang around, unless I hit them against the stand.... I found that unpacking a climber can be a tad noisy, if you are not careful. But hooking up the cables around the tree on a Summit Viper are not loud.

I too have a Summit Viper stand and wouldn't trade it for anything. I haven't experienced any noice from the cables though. My only small gripe about the stand is that the "triggers" make it difficult to thread the cable knots through the frame on cold days when gloves are used. Other than that, it's a great stand and I reccomend it to all hunters who are wanting to start using a climbing stand.
