Had 5 doe under me last night. the largest doe appeared to scent me, and became nervous. all other four doe continued to do their thing, leaving to feed on the trail/path I walked in on. the largest doe never flagged her tail, but she did trot back the original way she came in. why did the other four doe not become alarmed, or was their something else going on? thanks for all reply.....Mitch

She may have been the oldest and most experienced?
Sometimes an old doe will just know that something is wrong but don't know exactly what it is so she gets nervious. I would think if she truely scented you she would have given some other sort of sign. More than likely she had some feeling and the others just thought she was crazy!!!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

That seems odd, I never see one peel off and the others not follow, but I guess there are no rules.
I doubt you were really busted, she would have moved off faster or blown or something.

Sometimes they can catch just enough of your scent to become alarmed, but no full blown panicked. Add in her maternal insticts, which were correct
, and you get what you saw...
Old does are every bit a challenge mature bucks are in most circumstances.
