Simple. Stop shooting for a few weeks. Then, get yourself really close to the target, and shoot blind. Focus on back tension and a proper release. Learn to have a surprise release, and in no time, you'll be right back at it. The big one is to take a break.

Target panic can also be the inablility to hold on the target, One may lock high or low without being able to hold on the aiming point. Try tightening up your release also. Learn to not anticipate the shot. Just let the shot happen. Blind bailing will help, also add to it aiming paractice. Pull back and hold on the target and let down without firing the shot off. This will let your brain know that you are in controll of the shot. With both blind bailing and aiming practice, you will teach yourself to hold on the target as long as it takes, and also be able to execute a clean surprise shot. With both of these I beleive that most target panic can be cured. It worked for me.........

If you are talking about at a practice target see above. If you are referring to target panic on big game, then you just have to keep hunting. Limit your shots to in close until you get your confidence back. There is a world of difference between a bag and a deer, elk, caribou, whatever. I bought a"life like" targetyears ago and have used one ever since. It helps me to visualize the proper sight picture is when shooting at an animal. Sometimes I also like to go rifle shooting when I am shooting bad. It helps me get the release squeeze back and reminds me to focus on the front sight and follow through. Just a thought.
