Well after letting my hottest stand rest for almost a week I went back yesterday afternoon, I had only been there 10 minutes when a decent 8 point comes walking straight towards me, he was walking straight towards one of my shooting lanes, at about 20 yards he slowly started to move to the left of the shooting lane until he was totally out of the lane when he was about 15 yards out, then he turned broadside!!! Why in the world couldn't he have turned broadside while he was still in the shooting lane???? I tried a doe bleat and then a grunt, he looked, but never returned!!!! I HATE DEER!!!! Oh well maybe this afternoon.

Oh the heartbreaks of bowhunting!! hehehe
I feel for you Taz. I had three nice sized doe walk towards my stand only to turn and walk perfectly broadside JUST beyond my range. They were beyond 30 yards. ARGGG!!! Would have liked to ended that hunt in the AM since it was CCCOOOLLLDDD!!
I guess that's what makes it great!

I understand Taz.... I understand....
I have not found that buck that I jumped at Amelia WMA. I spent Sunday afternoon down there scouting/hiking around. Way in the back of a dove field along a tall grassy corner of a trail, I found a bedding area and countless small tracks around (does w/ fawns?). God, I need a tree stand and fast!! There are beautiful oak trees at the edge of the dove field with trails leading into the woods.
Taz, sometime you should stop down this way and check out Amelia WMA. Maybe we could do a hunt together.

I've had two years of the same type bs. I'm getting too old for this. Tennessee's muzzleloader season starts Nov. 4 and I'm going to get even with some of these uncooperative deer. I usually bowhunt thru muzzleloader but not this year, I'm getting even.

Butch maybe we could hookup next week for a day, I will be bringing my muzzleloader though!!! HEHE!!! Hopefully I can get a deer this week with my bow though first.
rockytop I hunted with my bow during muzzleloader last year, but I just got a new Knight Wolverine at the end of last year so I need to check it out on these deer that refuse to come any closer than 40 yards!!!!!

texastracker although he was an 8 pointer he was no monster, he may have had and inside spread of 14-15 inches and was not very tall at all, but for a first bow kill he would have been a dandy.
JRW I was wearing the necklace, but I thought about it to late, oh well!
It is raining pretty hard right now and has been for the last 4 hours or so, I am hoping it lets up just as I get home this afternoon, if it does I will be out there again, he didn't bust me, he just decided to go the wrong way at the wrong time.
