It says the bear attacked a hunter and was killed by another hunter after the bear dragged the guy off. So tell me, what are hunters hunting in Wash. at this time of year that they carry a gun big enough to dispatch a bear?

My exact thoughts also. I read somewhere that when a black bear attacks a human it useually kills where aswhen a grissly attacks it useually maims, that is why you are told to play dead when a grissly attacks. I think I read that in the story where a person was killed in Tenn. a few weeks ago by a black bear. Anyway, glad another person was present to put the blackie down. Very few details were given, hope more come out.

By looking at Washington's Hunting Regulations and Seasons, I would say the hunters were hunting either Coyote or Turkey.
