It pays to ask questions....(pics)

This all started about a week ago when a couple of friends from school said they had seen a dead "10 pt" laying along theside a a creek theywere canoeing on.They didn'thave any knivesor saws to cut thehead off with so they just left it lay.

I knew a couple of people that lived along the creek my friends hadboated on, so I told them about it, and said they should walk their portion of the creek sometime to seeif they could find it.

Well I got AIM'ed from one of them today around 6:45 today saying that they had actually found it on their property. I asked what they did with it and they said they left it lay because it smelled pretty bad and they didn't want it. So me being the adventerous person I am, asked if I could have it. She said they if I was brave enough to go in there and cut it off without puking, then I could have it. So 30 minutes later I stood over the smelly deer, slicing the decomposing head off of it. It turns out it was an 8 pt, would have been a 9 other than a broken browtine, but still a pretty good sized one. It smelled too bad to do any real close examination of it. I'll do that after I complete the euro mount of it.

I think it must have been killed during gun season due to a gut shot because it's gut region appeared to be rather shot up, and it died next to a stream which I hear is where gut shot deer go to.

Here's a couple pics of it...

I tied it up in some trees real good so it won't get stollen by some pesky coyotes.

Why?
Because if I didn't ask any questions, the deer would have just laid out there to rot and I wouldn't have been able to accquire the skull.

Sorry, not to affend you, but it's a so so rack you didn't shoot it and I would just feed it to the dogs.If you practicing doing a euro mount, great. Good luck with it.

I will admit to one time ticking off my a-hole neighbor by putting one just like it on the back side of my fence looking at them. Funny it was gone in a day or two but I never reported the theft to the police.

FM, no offense taken. I like it simply because its part of a deer. I'm not going to claim I shot it or anything else, its just the fact that its cool to have. Also, remember we come from different parts of the country, so your "so so" rack, is actually quite large for me. Itsbigger than anything I've ever shot, and the second largest I've ever held. So its just cool to look at and admire.
