Default Stopped smoking will it make a difference?

I quit smoking 1/2/06 [had to] I smoked while bowhunting out of my
tree stands and it never seemed to bother the deer at all infact I have
had to put a cig down to shoot deer before, mostly doe"s.I have shot bucks the last three years that I have been bowhunting, but nothing
big yet,my son tells me now that I have quit I will start seeing bigger
bucks.What do you guys think?

Hope you can make it. I wish I could. Its a hard habit to quit. More power to you! I dip skoal while in the tree stand. I smoke after and befor the hunt. I just leave the cigs in the truck.Besides if your at full draw and you got a cig in your mouth, you might just burn your bowstring into. LOL Good luck with quitting though, you will see more deer by increaing your life span.

Stick to it. Whether you see more deer or not - or bigger ones - you'll be a lot healthier and better able to hunt longer. You'll have more wind to drag 'em out, too.
Hang in there!

I'm a smoker and I agree w/ your son. I see lots of does too, some bucks, I think smoking is a handicap in the woods for sure. I have friends that use my stands and they see more deer than I do. Maybe its timing but his 5 days compared to my 25, I've cut back and will try to quit. Most of the bucks I see are walking into my stand or still hunting through the thick pines.Congrats, and stick w/it. Starting to wonder if chew is the same handicap, less smell but there is some.

Congrats on quittingI hope you continue to be smoke free.

As far as seeing deer, I wouldn't expect a sudden increase in big buck sightings, it may happen, but whether its cig smoke, BO, grease, oil, or other human smells you still have to be down wind of the deer for them not to smell you. Start a scent free routine and still attempt to play the wind. GOod luck.

I know I can smell a smoker even if they haven't had one for an hour.I can only guess that if you have one in the morning with your coffee then have one in the truck then another while gearing up before heading out a deer would be able to smell you a mile away. The question is do they perceive that stale cigarette smell as unnatural.

You'll be able to tell a big difference. Smokers are immune to their own smell. I can smell someone smoking in a car ahead of me on the highway. Everyone should quit smoking, it is deadly! Found out last week that my mom has cancer in her lungs, liver, and colon and she still won't quit smoking. Good luck to you.
