The biggest deer of my life!
 

I got the mount back from the taxidermist. I think he did a great job. He also had the sheds from the last two years!

Gutpile, I see from your post count you must be running around the internet posting this picture to anyone who will listen. Tell you what, I would be too. That there is one fine looking animal. In fact, he may be one of the prettiest 8 points I've ever seen. The guy did a great job on maintaining features and muscles in a natural way. Too often I see a nice deer ruined by some guy who's in a hurry and ends up with a deer with a smile or snear on his face. Nice deer Gutpile. You should be proud. HINT.... If you're going to come in here and thump your dang chest and show us this deer, the least you can do is post a story with it. But NO... you just flash a picture and run to the next board. We want more grasshoppper...... or nothing at all.[8D]

being serious, that is one of the best taxidermy jobs i have seen on here. not saying that it's the best of them all but it is deffinately top 2. what state do you live in? please say ohio, northeast ohio, because i am going to that taxi if it is[8D]

He posted the story back when he killed the deer if I remember correctly. I agree one of the coolest mounts I've ever seen!

Davidmil, you arecorrect.My apologies for that but i have two jobs and just a little time brag on this deer. But after turkey season I'm dropping one of the jobs. Now on to the story of the BIGGEST buck of my life. I
was late getting the stand that day, so i ran to the stand after putting out some doe in heat.

Got into the stand around 6am, and started nod off a Little bit. Thank god for a full body harness,i sat there for about an hour with not a hair showing itself. Then about 7am i heard sonoise coming to my left, there was a doe coming on the wrong trail. I shot a doe about 10 days Early so i did not take the bow of the holder. After she went by i heard some more noise coming down the same trail.

All of a sudden i saw HIM, i grabbed the bow and with that movement he stopped. Thank god he was behind a tree when he looked my way,but by that time i was at full draw. He took one step (his last) i settled the pin behind his shoulder and touched the release.

He jumped the at string a bit but, had enough time in stands to know aim a Little low. After the shot i heard the crash But still waitedfor overan hour before geting down. But there was no need for that, because i found him 43 yards from were i found the arrow!

Man, a booner is one thing, a booner with a bow is another, a booner that is an 8-point is rare (and awesome) and to have a mount that turned out that good and have the sheds with it ,WOW you must be on top of the world. congrats

Western MA Hunter, Thanks it is a deer of a lifetime. Here are some pics with the score sheet. The pic with him by tree is how i found him. My Friend who is the tax charged $460, but i think it was worth it.

I've already said what a great buck that is,but, what a great buck! It is very rare for a buck of that size and age to only have 1 2/8" of deductions. Very symetrical. I shot one that only had 1 0/8" in deductions. For a buck like that, I wouldn't care how much it cost to have it mounted. To remember that hunt and see an animal like that is priceless.
