First kiill of the year
As most of you all know I didn't get a turkey permit, but I did legally try to obtain one. Even though the season does't start for a couple more weeks I thought I would get the jump ahead of time and take the bow out since its quiet. I know of this pond where the turkeys roost and right at day break I could see them roosting. I let an arrow fly and missed the dang thing. I knocked another arrow and connected and down came a nice gobbler with a 12 inch beard. I wasn't sure if it was a hen or a gobbler when I shot it but I was back at the truck before the sun came up. I'll post some pictures later today.

You have got to be kidding me! You didn't just illegally take a bird out of season, without a permit, off it's roost and then post it here on a public forum? This does not sound like you.....somethings not adding up.

Congratulations Bobby!!!!
As long as you tried to put in for a permit---that's good enough. You can't help it. It's the states fault. And since you don't have a permit, might as well determine what is the "right" time for you, not go by what the state says since it was their fault in the first place.
I would definately like to see pics.
Where's the pics???
Did you say you had pics???
