![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() AND THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN U DON'T KNOW HOW TO SHOOT AND U TRY WITHOUT SOMEONE TELLING U HOW.... ![]() SO LET ME KNOW WHAT U GUYS THINK OF THE BOW AND THE BRUISE...LOL |
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
man that sucks looks like that hurt.
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
Nice bow!!! Ugly arm!!!!Is your draw correct for you?
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
String slap means you are over extending your bow arm. Usually to long of draw make sure the bow fits you.
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
YEEOOOWWW!!!!!!!! THAT HURTS
check your draw length and how about an arm guard, nice bow though, a parker was the first nice bow i ever owned, some days i wish i had it back |
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
The bow fits me right i just never shot before, picked it up and said this looks easy and whacked myself...the draw size is right...im just an idiot
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
The brace on the hornet is on the low side, at least one the dual cam one I was looking at the other day, which could contribute to whacking yourself... I've nailed my arm with a bow to short for me too, still trying to figure out how, God it hurt but you must have really whacked yourself to get a bruise that big, Yikes.

RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
Nasty looking. Good judgement comes from experience, unfortunately a lot of experience comes from making bad decisions, lol.I hope you know enoughnot to shoot the bow without an arrow, your post wasn't clear("dry fire" - a bad thing to do to your bow).
-fsh |
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
OUCH!!![&:][:o]
I did that once with my old PSE bow years ago when I first started out and haven't done it since!! (mine didn't look as bruised as yours at least....) |
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
i have ha dthat happen to m ebut it never looked that bad wow what a bruise and a nice bow btw
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
i would NEVER dry fire maybe...i know that it could result in bending of the limbs... and all sorts of problems, but i think im just getting jumpy and my arm gets in the way.
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
I really wanted to try shooting that dual cam version of the Hornet but the shop owner ordered only one and it was in his draw lenght.. 27 inches is a bit short for this camper, might have to give it a shot one day but will wait a while... I will get around to shooting it some day... Real short ATA bow.
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
OOOOUUUUUUUCCHHH!!! THAT MUST HURT, BUT THE BOW LOOKS PRETTY NICE. JUST DON'T EXTEND YOUR ARM THAT MUCH!
TAKE CARE, CONGRATS ON THE BOW! |
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
oh my gosh. i guess now you know why the arrows go so fast. that is the worst hit i've ever seen.
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
ouch no thanks.
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
Break your elbow just a bit and you will never have that problem again.
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
Ouch! Get an arm guard, try opening your stance to somewhere between 45 and 90 degrees instead of 90 (face into the target a little instead of perpindicular to it) and really make sure someone knowledgeable checks your draw length. You may think your form is right on, but if you are drawing too long string slap will most likely be the result. Good luck!
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
If I was you, I would get rid of that piece of Parker!!! Burn it, throw it in the trash... Wait, I have a better idea ship it to me, and I'll get rid of it for you... :D:D
Your lucky, I've seen the skin ripped completely away... like everyone one said, make sure you draw is right, and bend at the elbow just slightly, that will keep this from happening... Good luck... Oh that dummy I saw mess his arm up, was me... it hurts... |
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
That's from hitting it one time?
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
What do I think? Very cool bow...for sure and it hurts me just seeing that picture!
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
the draw length should be right i got it checked at the pro shop where i bought the bow and the guy knows his stuff....i think im keeping my alil too stiff n straight...yes thats one hit guys...thanks for all your advice and support...
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
very nice bow ive hit my arm lots i wear a gaurd i dont do it often but it hurts when you do lol
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
The bow looks sweet and the cams look cool with their star design.
Two things that stand our are the black module on the cam (it look good in camo also)and the rubber grip. The Hornet add in my magazine has a wood grip, was that optional? I hope you get accustomed to shooting it pain free[8D] |
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
They're in the process of sending the wood grip to the pro shop...i dont like the rubber grip look either...i didnt know you can get the black module in camo but it doesnt matter too much...the grip i want though and it should be in the mail... the cheap rubber grips make my hands sweat
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
Sorry to confuse, but I'm not sure if the modules come in camo or not. Ijust felt a camo module would go along much better with the overall camo cam theme they've got going on.
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
Sweet looking bow, sweet looking bruise, I rember back when I got my first. Have fun with the new toy,
Kirby |
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
Put an STS on your bow and never have that happen again--but you still need to work on your form.;)Looks like you must have had ALOT of hand torque going on there.
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
Wow, that must have hurt! Nice bow.
Learn to shoot without the arm guard. Too many people rely on it and it is just another piece of useless equipment that you won't have to wear. |
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
i've only shot the bow two nights... that happened to me the first time i laid hands on a bow...i hope it will never happen again...i know i have to work on my work...i'm sure with lots of practice and padding(j/k) i'll be fine
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
That's nasty. A short lesson on form and getting fit for your bow at a reputable bow shop will do you wonders.
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
I bet you it gave you a very warm feeling LOL.
All kidding aside ,i know how it feel's I've had some experience with that myself when i first started bowhunting . nubo |
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
Nice bow and ur arm ..... not so nice lol.
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
If the bow fits you correctly as you say, you shouldnt get any arm slap unless your torquing the bow slightly. Make sure your bow arm is slightly bent on full draw. Post some pictures of your form so thoes of us who have been shooting for a few years can help you improve your form. It really sounds and looks to me as if its a form issue or the draw length is a bit too long causing you to torque the bow. Give us some pictures from the front, two sides and the back, and if possible one from above.
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
thats not very nice!
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
i did that when i bought my new bow. with very little practice i took it to 3D shoot. turned out the draw lenght was too long. by the middle of the round
i had slapped my wrist once or twice, needless to say it started swelling, and i still had alot of targets left. it was a long day. |
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
You ready to sell that bow yet? Maybe I'll ask again in a week or two. JK
Try an arm guard until you figure it out. When you grip the bow, your palm should NOT touch the handle. Just the heel of your thumb should be holding back the weight. |
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
nice bow. i know how that bruise feels. i use to have a oneida and the lower outboard limb got the inside of my thigh while i was shooting from my tree stand at a steep angle. it tickled for a while.
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
ouch, throw some ice on it...
|
RE: My new bow and the mistake i made
i'm proud to say that never happened again...after 3 weeks of shooting i'm hitting 12's at 54 yards on the african lion at 3d shoots:D
