Hang On Stands/Climbing Sticks

RE: Hang On Stands/Climbing Sticks
Hey guys, thanks for all the input. I think for packing, safety and ease of use I will probably have to go with the chippewa wedgeloc, or the aluminum loggy bayou variety for stands. As far as the sticks go, I just want something safe, and yes I will always be hooked up from the ground up and back down. I really like the idea of aluminum for the sticks but they are a bit more pricey. Considering just getting the steel sticks and leaving them on each tree. Well hid and possibly locked. Darn thieves in the woods. Can't have nuthin' nice.
Thanks, LT

RE: Hang On Stands/Climbing Sticks
I used my buddies Chippewa Wedge sticks and I thought they were the best I have ever used. They were rock solid, easy to hang and easy to remove. The stand hangs like a breeze, is quiet, rock solid and light (both the large and small versions). The large is much more comfy for all dayers if you get the footrest. The stands and sticksare a little pricey, but for the price of adapters for the tree you can have alot of options for stand sights. If you leave the adapters in the tree you can hang the sticks and stands in about 3 minutes. If I could afford them I would use them. When all the stands and sticks I have wear out (or get stolen) I will upgrade to these.

I see what ya mean Dave. That's what I have been doing for a few years now. It's a prusic knot that atttaches to your harness teather ,and it slides up and down the fall line.I actualy Descend and climb with that system(homemade)but it is somewhat hard to do.That's why I am thinking of trying the retractable type. The chippawa ladder sections are nice but they are really pricey.

For a light, comforable, easy to hang setup go with the Summit Headhunter Lite and a set of Summit Buck Steps. Weighs less than 20# combined and will stack together very nicely and get you about 14' in a tree. Most important of all, don't forget you safety harness.
