I've never shot a hog but I've used Thunderheads prior to switching to Muzzys and I have no doubt you'll fair very well using Thunderheads on hogs...shot placement is the key....good luck.

I killed a 300# boar in N. CA with a 125 gr. Thunderhead. The arrow quartered through from the right behind the shoulder and came out the left in front of the shoulder. He covered the 30 yards distance I was from him and dropped over dead right where I was standing when I shot him. (I wasn't there any more!) No tracking job, perfect broadhead performance. They're great heads once you get them tuned to your arrows and flying true.

The Thunderheads will do their job if you do yours.

Like what? Please explain, your answer will not help anyone out.

I've taken a few deer with the thunderheads, and never had any type of problems with them, but I've never really put them in a bad senerio...both were broadside complete passthru's at 15 and 35 yds. I don't know for sure how the thunderheads would work on hogs, but they have been around for a long time so I would believe they are time tested and will work just fine.

I arrowed a nice boar in August of last year. I used the same setup at deer and it worked fine. The Thunderheads did he job, just fine.

Thuds will work fine on hogs. The key to hogs is to REALLY know where the kill zone is, because it is NOT the same as deer. A deers lungs go nearly all the way to the back of the ribs, while a hogs diaphram is right behind the shoulder. Shoot a hog very much behind the shoulder and you will never find it unless it was quartering away from you. On bigger hogs the quartering away shot is good because it lets you get to the vitals (which are between the shoulders) without having to punch through that tough shoulder. For a good look at what needs to happen, Google TexasBoars, go to the forums, and there is a sticky topic on "Anatomy of a Hog." Graphic, but it is the real deal, and highly reccommeded for anyone who wants to shoot a hog with a bow.
