RE: Gruntin'......
I use the Deer Flute by River Valley Game Calls
|
RE: Gruntin'......
I use a H.S True Talker or a primos grand slam grunt tube
|
RE: Gruntin'......
I use the Primos "the little can" for pre-rut and brought my 8-Pointer to me on the first day of the season! As far as grunt calls, I have a lot but the one I have had the most success with is made by MOHR!
|
RE: Gruntin'......
I like the "primos can" alot, deff brought the deer i shot in. I also like the rubber neck(i think thats wut its called) by primos.
|
RE: Gruntin'......
I use two different grunts, Primos RubberNeck and a QuakerBoy. I also have good luck with The Can bleat call. One morning this fall I rattled, grunted and bleatedin three different buck within an hour. Two of the buck were small 1-1/2 year old 8 pt's., the other was a nice 3-1/2 year old 8 pt. Each buck came up the same trail and stood under the tree in the same spot. The problem is that whenI hung the stand, there was a branch that I thought would not be in the way. I was wrong! The branch is no longer there! I did shoot the 3-1/2 year oldin rifle season as he wastrying to sneak back to bed in the morning.

RE: Gruntin'......
Rubberneck, E-Z Grunter, and the Big Can.
|
RE: Gruntin'......
I use the True Talker with the Primos original can to entice the bucks into bowrange. This season I took a nine pointer with the combination. I also called in some other bucks that held up just out of range. Wish I had a decoy to go with those calls.
|
RE: Gruntin'......
I use a True Talker and I always have had good luck grunting but not rattling. I shot my biggest buck to date, a 142 class buck, this year. I did grunt before he came in but whether or not thats what brought him in I dont know. I think it was rubbing and clashing my rattling antlers againt the tree I was in more then anything.

RE: Gruntin'......
I use an old, wouldn't trade it for nothing, GoldenEagle grunt call. It is good for long range as well as close. I don't think they make them anymore. I've had great luck with blind calling as well as after seeing them calling. I've developed a technique that works well for me.

RE: Gruntin'......
its not the grunt most likly because there is alot of good grunts out there!! some deer respond and some run away some do nothing .it al depends on what mood hes in.if hes on a doe good luck!!!nothing will get him to come other then the doe hes chasing. one thing i do is dont call to much so that he dont get a fix on your postion.if hes coming to you dont do nothing.if hes going away try anything like bleating, grunting or even a little rattling.but it all comes down to how much you do it and what your buck to doe ratio is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
RE: Gruntin'......
i like the knight and hales ez grunter plus it is a great grunt and i owe all of my bucks to it
|
RE: Gruntin'......
I have had more responces from the Primos "Can" than anything. It sounds exactly like a doe in estrus. I had two bucks, one a decent 8pt, come to it when I was in Alberta but no shot opps. They don't stay long when they don't see the "doe".;)

RE: Gruntin'......
I use the " grunt snort and weeze" by Drury's and it has always worked great for me .
|

I've called em in with the true talker, I've scared em off with the true talker... Guess it depends on the situation.

RE: Gruntin'......
I had amazing results in Illinois on a hunting trip last fall using a MAD snort-wheeze / grunt combo call. I had never seen one before and one of the guysI met therelet me try his one morning. I heard some movement behind me and did a snort wheeze on it and I had 3 bucks (one shooter) under me in about5 minutes.Another guy that we metthat was hunting the same farm we were shot a nice buck using a snort wheeze the morning we arrived. I will have one of my ownthis fall when I return.[8D]

RE: Gruntin'......
Hey krabbie, does the MAD in MAD snort-wheeze stand for Mothers Against Deer? :D:D:D

RE: Gruntin'......
I use a very unique call that I am sure 100% of you have never heard of. I use the Brett Proffitt natural voice grunt/ doe bleat/ estrous combo call. Have you heard of it. Didn't think so. I am Brett Proffitt and the call is all mine, I have a patent on it :DSeriuosly, I guess I am really lucky because I guess God knew how hard core a bowhunter I was gonna be so he gave me a built in call. I am not bragging but I have really had better success using my own voice that any comercial call I have tried. Up until this years deer ( I live in NW Ohio and can only get one deer a year), my last 5 bucks have been called in with my voice. One buck was on a very windy, snowy morning. He was walking a trail about 80 yards parallel farther in the woods from me. I got out my Primos can and started hitting it. He didn't pay a bit of attention. So I just stuck it back in my pocket and started using my voice like a doe estrous call. The first one stopped him, and the second brought him right to me. I drilled him about 5 yards from my stand. When my buddy came out for the recovery and pictures, we followed his trail in the snow. It was really cool seeing how he was heading for the inside of the woods and then just did a u turn and headed right for my stand.Another buck the previous year was walking across the feild about 200 yards out from me walking again parallel from me. It was a real nice still night. It was during the pre rut. So I did a buck grunt. I kid you not , he went from a slow walk, to turning on a dime without missing a stepand coming down to me on a dead run, and then a slow trot when he got closer to the corner where my stand was. I grunted one more short grunt and stopped him, and drilled him at 25 yards. My buddies are all amazed at how real I can sound with my voice. I have had guys come up to me at work and say Hey I hear you can do a really good deer call. You can tell the are pretty skeptical. Then I do it and they can't believe it. I know that I am just really lucky that I can do it. It saves money on buying calls and it is great not having to mess around handling a call on stand. And the best part is I know that I will never, ever leave it in my truck or drop it from 30 feet up in a tree. If I drop this one, I am in big trouble:D

RE: Gruntin'......
I don't know what it stands for early, but I am a believer....

RE: Gruntin'......
ORIGINAL: Proff I use the Brett Proffitt natural voice grunt/ doe bleat/ estrous combo call. :D |
RE: Gruntin'......
Rod Benson grunt tube. You can move the 'O' ring up or down the reed from a fawn distress call all the way fown to a mature buck grunt. It is the most realistic call I have ever used in almost 40 years of deer hunting. Benson is a small Michigan based company. His calls are not available everywhere, but you can find them at Cabelas.

Trembow, as long as they let me bring my bow too, I am game!!:D
