Warren & Sweat Treestands
Crap! I will never buy another one of those stands. I bought two this spring and was totally dissatisfied with them. I hunted in them the first two weekends of the season this fall and then pulled them out of the woods because I was so unhappy with them.
I tried contacting them via the internet to explain my dissatisfaction and either return them or exchange them on a different model. They responded that the company was bought out this year and anybody who bought a stand from the old owners were out of luck because the new owners were not taking responsibility for the products sold before they purchased the company and the old company is no longer around.
I told them that I would never buy another product with the Warren & Sweat name on it. I also explained that hunters are the type of consumer who depend heavily on their gear and would spend a lot of money on it but in return we expect a high level of customer service. we simply can't afford not to. And we will not give our business to any company that does not stand behind their products and do everything they can to make things right if that product is not up to standards.
Just a heads up to anybody who may have bought a stand from them, if you have any problems your screwed because they won't take care of you. Anybody looking for a stand I recommend sticking to a company with a proven track record like Summit or API.

What stand(s) did you have touble with? I was actually looking at getting a couple of their fixed position stands...either the cypress or cedar. What problems did you have???
Regardless...I agree that's definitely no way to treat a customer. I'd be upset too. Does Bear River own them now? I thought I heard that somewhere.

I bought two climbing stands and they are vey unstable. They slip on the bark and when you stand up if you bump seat with the back of your legs the top section slips and falls on top of the bottom section with a loud CLANK!
They fold down flat rather than being welded at angles and then you unfold the halves and put a pin through them. This is far less stable than the fixed constructed climbers I have used in the past. Also the angle of the arms is so steep that when climbing you can only climb the tree about 6-8 inches at a time. I don't want to have to spend 15 minutes climbing up the tree and another 15 minutes getting down.
I did buy the stands at Cabela's but I got them in their bargain cave so they would not return them for me. Since the problem is really in the product design I thought that the manufacturer would surely step up and at least try to exchange them for a different model. I would have even been happy with half credit of what I paid for them.
Needless to say I am disappointed that I can't return these to Cabela's but I guess that's the chance I took when I bought them at a discount. What upsets me is that regardless of whether they sold them at full retail or a discount I expected the stands to be of decent quality. These things are basically unhuntable in my opinion which really upsets me because I've got two of the best spots I scouted sitting idle right now because I don't have stands to put there and if I do want to hunt there I've got to pull stands form a couple of my other spots and hang them there and do this in the middle of the season.
Warren & Sweat will never see another dollar of mine!

I bought a hang-on made by W&S about 5 or 6 years ago. It was a good little stand. It only weighed 9lbs and I could carry and hang it anywhere. Unfortunately someone stole it in 2000.

Just an update, the new owners must have come to their senses and decided that they can't afford to lose potentially good customers by blowing off people who bought Warren & Sweat treestands from the old owners. They e-mailed me and offered to sell me two replacement stands at a substantial discount. I stayed away from the climbers but should have two of their hang-on "Cedar" models in the mail tomorrow. I will let everybody know how they perform after I get them and give them a try.
