Bison with a bow

I am seriously toying with the idea and need some help from someone who has taken a bison with a bow. Setup mainly, bow #, grain weight on arrow & broadhead, what type broadhead used, and anything else especially required for the hunt. Shot placement is another critical issue that would be helpful. Thanks for input.

That would be a blast. I would suggest a heavy arrow, with a big cut on contact broadhead. I will look for some pictures for shot placement. You bow poundage should probably be as high as you can go, 70 should be plenty.

Difficult picture to read but you can see where the heart and lungs are.

Thanks Deer-hunter18, That's what I was thinking too. 70 pounds ought to be there. 450 to 475 grain arrow combo broadhead with cut on contact is where I was headed.

The lungs look huge in this picture. The heart I might as well forget about from the side but from the front it might be available. Lungs should be it and use the heart to pump away.

Thanks again for your help.;)

It's a private ranch with over 12000 acres and their own large herd. And it is still not easy to get close enough to one.

And there is 4 wild herds in the north america area still and100 to 200hundred are taken from them every year.

I dont think i would try a straight on shot, to many things to go wrong go for the "for sure" deal and shot him in the lungs, then you target is over a square foot. lol

Heck yes the golden triangleis huge on a bull and the front on shot is not in my plans.
Like I said I'm in the planning stage right now but I might do it this spring.
