Trail cam not working
I recently purchased a moultrie gamespy 100. I got it to workabout half the time at home and thought it might work better outside. I put it in the woods last weekend with corn. I placed the corn at a distance of 5 - 10 yards. Well after a week I went to check it and I was really dissapointed. It had only 1 pic on it and that was of me. I tested it out at the distance I thought the deer would be and I got itto work. The corn I placed out was almost all gone and no pics. I placed it at about waist high on a known deer trial. What did I do wrong?

RE: Trail cam not working
Dont take this the wrong way, but the only thing you did wrong was bought a moultrie. That set-up should have worked very well, but i think your camera is bad. I have seen some great reviews about your cam, but i have also seen some bad ones. I have heard of people having the same problem as you, i would definatly be calling the company maybe they can help you out.

They said that I should try a duracell battery. I didn't know a battery would make a difference. What do you think?

RE: Trail cam not working
I have a Cuddeback, and all i use is duracell batteries. Give it a try and see if that works if not, i would try to get your money back for it and go on ebay and buy a cuddeback. You can get a brand new Cuddeback 3.0 for about $300. I know that is a lot but trust me it is worth it. I have been setting my cam on Video and getting some great videos. If you would like some pictures from my cuddeback i can send them to you just let me know you email address.

RE: Trail cam not working
Okay I would love to buy a cuddeback but I am afraid it will get stolen. How well are they made? To they have places to put a lock on it?
|
RE: Trail cam not working
The only way it will get stolen is if the person cuts down the tree. It has a cable that goes around the tree and is locked inside the back of the cam. It also has a 4 in. screw that goes through the cam into the tree. In order to get to the screw or the cable they have to get the lock off of the bottom of the cam. I am not afraid of mine being stolen, but am afraid that after they try and not succeed that they will just bust the cam up. I know they wont get it off of the tree. Are you on private property? If so you should have any problem. Also put it in the thickest spot in the woods so that it is more likely to not be found. The thick spots are where the big bucks live anyway:D. Any more questions please ask. I promise if you buy a Cuddeback you will not regret it.

RE: Trail cam not working
Sorry one more thing, they make a Bear Box for the cuddeback. I have never seen one in person but have seen pictures it is basically a metal box that you put the cam in so that reallly nothing can happen to it. The cuddeback takes Compact Flash Memory Cards. I bought 2 of the 256 MB cards so that i can just swap them out when i go check the cam. I would suggest that you get the 128 MB cards unless you are going to wait for weeks to go check it. The 128 MBcard can hold like 200 pictures, and the 256 MB will hold about 400 Pictures.

Thanks for the info. It will be on public land. Deer season is over and I just wanted to see what made it through the season. I will check it every weekend.

RE: Trail cam not working
the moultrie is just fine....i know with my trail camera it said to put it about 6.5 feet up the tree because where the strap goes through the back of it it angles it down....try and move it up the tree
