How long
#4
I killed my first one, a doe, my first bow season. I think there are varying factors to how long it will take once you start bowhunting - how much you practice, how much time you spend in the field, how much you try to learn about bowhunting including low/high percentage shots and what to do after the shot, deer population of areas you hunt to name a few, and of course luck doesn't hurt.

First Bow season right before the start of the second firearm season here in Illinois,, missed at three big doe thoughout the season and had a string loop come untied while drawing on a doe, then i turn around and shot a button buck at 10yrds, so all in all my bad season turned out to be a good one.

I got lucky and had a 4-point and two does come into range the afternoon of opening day bow this past season (which was my first). The 4 gave me such a perfect shot that I couldn't resist and took it with a lung/liver pass through at about 20 yards. I was feeling good until I missed a doe 3 times in a row about 2 weeks after that.
