Default 1st Deer with a Bow

Well it happened, 3rd year of bowhunting and I bagged my first. Bow season opens on Oct 1 here in Michigan, I had the whole week off to hunt. Saw plenty of deer all week but nothing to shoot at.
Sunday AM at 8:30 a doe walks in 25 yard out, I just happened to be standing, which helped, waited till she turned broadside, and wham. Good shot.

I got a little excited and began tracking but 500 yards, across one stream later I was gutting out my first deer with a bow.

Man I was pumped. Still am.

Hunting soothes the soul

Ausie's right. That will be the hardest. Now you are the sacred circle. Did you cruise over to Ted's place to shoot it "in the spirit of the wild"?

Congrats again and don't be afraid to post pics. He's a trophy to you.

Fantastic! Nothing builds hunting confidence like having actually killed game with a bow. You must be thrilled!

Just one word of advise. A sharp knife works far easier for field dressing than &quot;gutting out [your] first deer with a bow&quot;. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
