Hello Everyone!
I just got my very first bow! It's a Hoyt RinTec XL. I got it outfitted with a TRU-Glo sight, a whisker biscuit rest, and I'm going to be using a TRU-Ball release. Also, this is my very first post. I look forward to getting my bow sighted in and shooting with a bit of accuracy so I can take it out to a range without too many laughs! Sure aren't too many women in those places and it can be intimidating. My bow muscle needs some help, too. I'm hoping to get good enough to show up my husband!
I think it might be a little bit before that happens!

Welcome and congrats on your new bow, you made a good choice. One question, are you planning on hunting with it or just target shooting, or shooting 3-D?
As far as just hitting a bullseye at 20 or 30 yards just take it slow and it will come. Once it gets warm enough to shoot you should be pretty proficient by the end of the summer with some good instruction and quality practice time. Remember to stay relaxed and don't over do it. When you get tired or frustrated just stop for the day or a while. Depending on how good the other guys and your husband are you shouldn't have too much trouble being as good or better than them. Women tend to shoot better than men with proper instruction. I think they can multi task better.
I taught my girlfriend to shoot a year or so ago with my old darton modified to fit her. She did ok and liked it so we got her a bow of her own. She chose an Alpine micro over the rintec (I think she wishes she would have gotten the rinctec though) but she shoots it well. By the time august rolled around she was shooting pretty decent and had a fair amount of confidence. Her reason for wanting a bow was because at the end of summer some friends of mine have a cookout and sight in our bows, shotguns and muzzle loaders for the upcoming deer season. They start shooting a few months before season, we shoot year round. Not only did she have fun and shoot well, she outshot everyone but me consistantly hitting a 3 inch circle at 30 yards. Not exactly compitition level, but better than most of the hicks I hang around
.
They took it well and gave her lots of praise, they were glad to have her. They wanted to know when she was coming hunting, which she has no desire to do. I also let her shoot my .17HMR while we were sighting in our slug guns and she seemed to like that quite a bit too. I think it was the first time she had shot anything other than a bb gun. It sure is nice having someone that takes an interest in the things you enjoy. Your husband is a lucky guy. As long as he like spending time with you that is

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I'm very excited to have my bow. I think I will mostly use it for target hunting although I'd love to eventually shoot game with it. My husband has a small range set up in our house and we just found a great archery shop nearby that offers techno and a 3D range that I'm sure once I can actually shoot where I'm aiming
we'll do together. My husband is of course part of the forum his name is YooperMike. He got a lot of good advice from this forum that really helped us make a decision on what kind of bow to get for me.
