I was able to cash in on a Summit Viper X5 just after Christmas for $143.99 at the local Gander Mountain here in IL.

The last I checked, most of the Gander Mountains in IL were sold out of the Viper X5. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to give them a call anyways though. I don't know where in IL you are located but it might be worth the drive to save the extra cash.

But if you arewilling to go up to$200 on a climber, you might as well pay the extra $30-40 and get the Viper X5 rather than skimp out on quality.

I haven't used the Summit yet but at that price I couldn't pass it up. Like mentioned above, API and Loggy Bayou carry a good lineup of climbers as well.

thanks for all the info guys. it sounds like the Summit Viper is the clear favorite. I was looking at the Loggy Monarch Climber that cougar suggested. Do you guys have any more information on this climber?

I've got a buckshot equalizer. only thing I don't like is the seat. if I had to do it again, I'd go with something by summit, aka, viper or 180.

I would not skimp on buying a climber. I have two viper x-5( one is for sale) I bought one to bow hunt from and one to gun hunt from. I am going to buy a summit broadhead to bow hunt from. I will also be getting a hunter safty system also, there is just something about not having that rail there.

LONE WOLF RULES, there isn't a quieter stand out there, light and very secure but not inexpensive. Oh yea, not the most comfortable.;)

I have a summit 180 and I love it. I will not buy any other stand. It is very light and easy to climb with. I like the seat. I fall asleep every time I get up in a tree early in the morning.(i tie off first) Need to take a look at them.
