Default New to the forum

Hi. I'm just new to the forum and also new to bowhunting. I just got married and my father in law is a huge bowhunter. I started target practicing with his old bow and through this year I really got into it. I was with him when he took his moose this year and now I am hooked. I can really see how this becomes an obsession. I bought myself a Diamond Victory single cam bow mid season this year but I didn't get the opportunity to take any big game with it. However I did bag myself quite a few grouse. It was awesome. I can't wait for next year so I can put some serious time and effort into some big game.

Anyways, I do have a question. I have noticed that my shoulder has become increasingly sore the more I shoot. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any input.

Welcome to the forums, and the addictive world of bow hunting!! We are most happy to have you!

Your shoulder, does it hurt if say you throw a baseball overhand? Not necessarily a baseball, but anything.

It could just be your muscles aren't used to it yet. Don't overdue it, and when it starts to hurt, stop for the day.

Your probably shooting a little to much. Take a break for a couple of days. Bench press will really help build chest back and shoulders up. Welcome to the forum.

Yes it does hurt to throw overhand. Do you recommend any exercises to help it out?

Better get to the doc. If you have pain throwing overhand, could be a rotator cuff problem. Get it fixed before it gets worse.

Welcome aboard.. and like Motown said, take off a few days and rest your shoulder. Then before you shoot again, warm up with some stretches.
