Free Software for those Digital Cameras
- I know there are a lot of new digital cameras out there in the woods getting their first tryouts. Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/ ) is a free photo software program that is great for photo manipulation. I use some of their routines to bring out details on deer thatareotherwise difficult to see in the originals. I've attached some before and afters at the end of this post. To get the "afters", I used the following Irfanview steps:
Open a photo; then select
Image-resize/resample: pick 640x480, select "resample" for size method;
Image-negative;
Image-enhance colors: play with the gamma correction, then contrast & saturation;
File-Save as: select "save as progressive jpg", quality btw 50 and 80.
-The stickers in the first "after" are artifacts of the manipulation process, as I have seen the deer without them. There are other photo programs, and perhaps better methods, but it works for me.
Enjoy, fsh
