I dont mean to change the subject of this thread or anything, but i was just wondering what the pins are for. I live in canada and we dont have a system like that. Is it just a little momento or somthing, or is it actually used for anything? I know i sound like a moron but i was just wondering....

I got mine in the mail in mid November (archery pin), if I remember correctly, I think they are sending them out in two "batches". The other mailing should start soon.

The pins have the year on them and are different colors every year and the archery and gun ones are also different colors. Guys like to collect these to have memories of their past hunts. Theres some great looking plaques out there where you can put the pins on them as a great way for displaying.
There are others that like the pins so they can sell them (ebay has a bunch) and make money...........

Yea,just a little momento. The State of Illinois used to give them out when you checked in your deer. Now we check our deer online or over the phone and we have to request a pin.
My son shot a deer with a bow,mid Oct and recieved his pin last week,I shot one two weeks later and haven't recieved mine yet.Neither of us got our gun season pins yet.
