RE: drop away rest question

The people at beeman are gonna have there engineers look at it and the rest of the arrows I bought with it. They said it was weird how it broke. The shaft went 20 yds past the target, the little peice went 3yards past the target, and the fletchng end pretty much stayed on the string and went into my hand. 5 hrs in the emergency room. Very scary.. I knowthe first time I shoot it`s gonna be a little hard...... John

That pic is scary! I was shooting one day and checked my carbon arrows and found one that was cracked. I always check each arrow before each shot now. Your story just confirms my actions. I guess you are lucky that only 4-5 inches stuck in your hand. I can't imagine having 20+ inches shoved through my hand!

That is something I've never heard of (1st yr archer).

I'm going to have a little talk with my son, tonight, too.

Thanks for posting this.

I have that exact arrow rest. Only problem with it was 2 washers on the adjustment knobs came loose..and rattled. I put a dab of super glue on it...quiet as can be.

I absolutely love my rest.

they did have problems a few years ago. not sure if they corrected it or not. I shoot trophey taker on my hunting, 3dand spot bow. most reliable rest i've found thats a drop away. also that arrow thing wasnt from the rest.where it broke it more probable that it had a crack in it. to check them. bend each arrow from one end to the other and listen fror cracking noise. and visually also. feel up and down each arrow w/ your finger nail. it will pick up small cracks. I was in Pennsylvania this year at a ASA 3d National shoot and a guy did the same thing at practice round. went right through his hand. after he check his other arrows he found 2 more that were cracked. be safe.

I've seen that exact same thing happen , same type of injury as well , probably a half dozen times in the last five years or so.
In every case the arrow was damaged before the shot.
