Default Help?! ... Please?

I live in north Texas. Recently, I read in Petersens Bowhunting that bucks shed their antlers around January, and that you should look for them after the snow melts and stuff. Well, since there is no snow here, should I start looking for them before late January? I have seen bucks by my house, and I want to find their sheds this year because they're pretty sizeable bucks around here. I have started feeding corn around here, and the deer have now started bedding closer. Will this help me if bucks start bedding closer? Where should I look? I took this picture today, I'm not sure if it's anything, but around the base of his left antler, it's a little discolored. Is this any indication? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Pretty buck. Some bucks around here (NC) have already lost one side so it is very possible that some of the ones in TX have started to lose them. If your season is over it wouldn't hurt to start looking. Look in the same places you would look for the bucks themselves. Food sources and thick bedding areas where they might hit them on a limb or branch while walking out. Wildlife officers around here find alot near the edges or in fields.
