3-D Leefy suit

I would like to buy a 3D Leafy suit, and need help in picking something out. I would like it to be lite enough so that I can wear it when it is warm out, but then I would like it to be something that I can wear over my heavier stuff too.Let me know what you guys think is the best stuff to buy, and where can I find it?

Last season I bought the Sport Chief 3D Leafy outfit and it's one of the best investment's I've ever made .It's great for spring and early fall and come's with inside liner's for when the cold weather arrive's ,it was a little pricey but well worth it I think it cost me 500.00 Cdn .Buyt also ASAT has a 3D outfit that is good for the spring and early fall that will fit overtop of your existing camo and if you check their website www.asatcamo.com it comes with jacket, pant's and head cover ,I'm not sure exactly of the cost but it's well under 200.00 U.S..This might be a little more what your looking for .

I've been thinking of getting one of these but I was wondering. I only hunt from stands, does it look weird for a bush to be 16' up in a tree or are these things only for when you stalk hunt or hunt from the ground?

I have a leafy suit i got from Bass Pro for about 50 bucks. It is Realtree Hardwoods green
and it works great for me. I am not familiar with the ASAT but it seems popular
on this board.

Canoeboy, what a 3-D Leafy suit does is it will break up your outline better than regular camo can, whether you are in a treestand or stalk hunting. Many people argue that regular camo works fine, but those in favor of 3-D Leafy suits seem to find that they tend to break up your outline which is also a critical part of hunting whitetail.

Personally, I do not own a set of 3-D camo, but it is something I am looking into getting. Especially now that I getting into archery hunting.

i like the 3d leafy bug suit i got from Cabelas. very light, breathable for scouting in the hot summer and very packable. i also use pins to hold real veg on the suit like light vines w/ leaves and the such.

BigDaddy, I know there's tons and tons of votes of confidence that will be coming for the ASAT 3D leafy suit, and deservedly so...

But, just to throw another thought out there, check out the Sneaky Leaf leaves that can be pinned on in a flash. These are some pretty cool little gizmos that you can use to turn your ordinary hunting clothes into 3D without incurring the added expense of a whole new suit.

Here's a before and after with the product I'm referring to:

Before:

After:

I bought a bag of these things a couple years ago, and found them to be extremely soft after a few washings -- which made them extremely quiet. And they're really affordable. What I really liked about them was that I could apply them wherever I wanted... I left them off the inside of my bow arm, and other areas like that.

Hope that helps. If not you, then maybe someone. :D

Big Daddy, I purchased a mossy oak scent lok 3-D leafy wear suit from cabelas about 4 years ago and I cannot leave it at home when archery hunting. I swear by it! I hunt solely out of tree-stands and it dramatically helps conceal me. I cannot tell you how many times I have been able to fool a suspecting whitetail when theywere staring at me. My suit is getting worn out, so I purchased the same suit from Cabelas this year, at least I thought it was the same. The suit has changed and there are no pockets in it and there is no belt loops so I sent it back.

I am not familier with the ASAT brand, but I will be checkingthem out also.

good luck

You know, I would probably vote for ASAT, but I am not 100% convinced.

I bought a 3d asat before this year...and it has been the absolute worst year I have had hunting in over 5 years. I had none, zero, notta, zilch encounters with shooter bucks. And maybe only2 or 3 does that were in shooting range. And then I couldn't make it happen on them.

I really doubt it is the ASAT, but it is the only thing I have changed this year. Well, besides my underwear!!

But I still like my asat and wear it every time in the field. It has gotten me a coyote and I missed the second one. It does work well...I am just venting on a horrible season right now!!

I don't own one yet but when I do buy a 3D suit it will be ASAT 3D Leafy unless something new comes out on the market that I like better. As for now my vote IS ASAT

The two 3-d suits I own are just too noisy to draw silently in. The sound quiet enough in a non hunting enviroment, but when it's deer 30 and the woods are quiet they are loud to my hard of hearing ears.
When someone makes one with fleece or cotton leaves I'll buy my next 3-d suit, until then it's back to the same old same old for me.

They do work well in concealing you better if your not moving around making noise with them, I'll give them that.

I bought mine at walart 3 yrs ago, and I like it. The only time I do not wear it is when I'm in my doublebull blind.

MQ1, do they become limp after a numerous washings? I'm picturing leaves that just lay flat on you conforming to your clothes and don't do much. Also, wouldn't the 100 safety pins you have to use make youlight uplike a christmas tree?

RE: 3-D Leefy suit

I've got a Shannons Bug Tamer Plus and its o.k. but the mesh inner lining kind of irritates me. I wear it over clothing and it seems to snag on everything. I also don't care for the built in face mask. Seems kind of useless to me unless I was bee-keeping or something. I can't really see that good out of it to actually use it. I tried a Cabela's brand 3D suit but it had no pockets and the leafs were noisy and snagged on each other and my gloves so I took it back and got a Scent Lok 3D suit which, for me, it just about the perfect suit. Plenty of pockets on the pants and jacket, a built in arm guard (not needed but a nice feature), and the suit is quiet. You can take the scent lok liner out also and just use the 3D camo for warmer weather. I like the looks of the ASAT alot, also.

Really, just about any of the Leafy suits are better than the "flat" camo, but visit www.asatcamo.com Honestly. Check out the website and decide for yourself. The camo itself is amazing, but the features of the suit are also incredible. It is made to be used as a cover up over ANYTHING, but can also be worn alone. You don't need to buy a size bigger, just order what you would normally wear.
The suit is very well made, and will stand up to years of wear, unlike most of the leafy suits out there. Zippered legs, the list goes on and on.

My vote......ASAT leafy suit. And buckeybuckhunter is the guy to get it from!!

Check out the Whitewater outdoorsline of clothing.I just purchased a 3D leafy suit in late September. It comes complete with Supprescent and Wind blocker, camo pattern is Realtree Hardwoods. Its lite enough to wear in the early season, and warm in the late season when temperatures drop below 0.I just layer with fleece and wool and good to go to -20c.Canadian dollars I paid a little over $300 and well worth it.
I was thinking about the ASAT as well but no dealers anywhere around and I prefer trying clothing on before I purchase it.
