Default Moultrie Game Spy 100 Digital camera

The $100 gift certificate I have for use at Gander Mountain is burning a hole in my pocket.[8D]

They have the Moultrie Game Spy camera on sale for $99.

Is this thing a decent camera, or should I keep shopping?

Spend the extra money and get the moultrie 200. It is a 3.1 megapixel opposed to 1.3. It also has the date, time, temperature, and moon phases imprinted on the photo. I just got mine yesterday and can't wait to try it out.

It will work - I have three of them, and they are good for general scouting purposes. If you want better, clearerpictures, go with the 3.1mp model. I highly suggest2 - 128mb sd cards along with the purchase, whichever model you choose.

It takes decent pictures. the main drawback is the slow trigger time. wont work well on a trail unless you point it up the trail to give it enough time to trigger. About 3 seconds. Works well over food or scrapes though. I like mine. I would suggest getting the solar panel to keep the battery charged and like suggested a 128 mb sd card. They are $18 at wallyworld. There is better but for the money its a decent camera, and if it gets stolen your not out $400

I like mine, but I have just used it over bait. I tried to post a pic with this response but ran into a error.

Great advice, you guys, I appreciate it very much.

How much extra are the cameras with the faster trigger times? Can I get a much better camera in the $200 range?

In the $200 range I would get the new moultrie it has the faster trigger. You cant really get into a cuddeback with the fast trigger under $350 to $400.
There is some great reviews here http://www.chasingame.com/

VC, all the bad talk I have heard and experiencedwith moultrie I would stay away from them all together and if the one that James Vee uses
(Stealth 1.3mp or 2.1mp AD2)

http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=1346030

is in your price range I would surely consider one of those.

I've been happy with my Moultrie but I do get the occasional pic of just "the woods" I'm assuming this may be a deer that beat the trigger.

I simply don't havemany places where I'm comfortable leaving a $400 camera.
