Besides the obvious, anyone want to guess what this is? For sure some of you know, but you don't see it everyday. I shot this pic about 2 years ago, 5 miles from my house.

It is obviously a dead deer that has been covered up assumingly by either a bear or a member of the cat family...I think?[&:]

It was either a mountain lion that didn't finish his dinner or a hunter that cut his antlers off. It looks like some of his antlers are missing. But on the other hand why would a hunter bother with that bad of a cover up. My bet is a mountain lion.

A deer trying to stay warm? I would guess a cat kill.

My 1st thought was a poached deer that the criminal would come back for after dark, didn't even consider that a predator would cover it up till I read other replies.

It was a mountain lion. A friend of mine found it while he was out hunting. I just thought it was a neat pic that everyone might enjoy seeing. As for the antlers, the one on the top side was broken prior to the kill (the break was not new), the one you can't see was still there. He was a fork, or maybe a six, can't remember if he had brow tines or not, so was probably either 1.5 or 2.5 years old. Didn't want to disturb the site any more than I had to but I guess we left too much scent. He never returned, or at least not close enough for my trailcam to get.

deffinately a mountain lion, I know coyotes (atleast around here) or wolves don't cover their kill...
