Interesting....

I saw a spike in captivity one time that was an old deer. He too had huge mass, if his spikes would have been long enough you could have used them for softball bats...

Yeah Im gettinglots and lotsof nice bucks on my cameras every night, too bad none are during hunting hours. They went completely nocturnal after gun season, but Im still sitting out there every night freezing my gonads off in hopes of getting a shot at one more decent one.

I shot a old spike back in the late 90's that barely had any teeth in his mouth. He has spikes that curled around like main beams, just no points on them. He tasted like crap, after eating one of the fresh steaks the night I butchered him, and realizingthe steaks tasted like shoe leather, we ground the whole thing into burger and made jerky out of him.

i saw a spike in velvet like the one you're talking about. i'm not sure how he tasted or how old he was. i definately wouldn't mind getting a spike like that.
