You're wife is very understanding AE...my wife was miffed when I had a coyote in our deep freeze in the basement, and it was wrapped in several plastic bags...just knowing "it" was in there creeped her out.

I shot a doe last season bow in 2000. She also had a fetus in her also. About the same size. My friend doesn't hunt. So I bring him out there to experience a piece and he sees this. He pukes all over then recovers just in time for a pic. I don't think it was a positive experience for my friend. He still laughs about today. Sorry about the side track. I think the post was funny and proves a point. Everyone makes mistakes. It what you do after the mistake is what counts. The majority of us here have done something in the woods. Where you just sit back, and your like wow that was bad, or it could have been bad. It's what we learn from our mistakes and bad judgement. When I was a 1st time bowhunter I to have shot at a deer when it was to dark. When I got back to the house. I sat down and thought about what I did, and realized I got caught up in the momment and made a big mistake, and vowed to do it again. 13 yrs later. I can say I've never done it again. Safe Hunting!

This is the doe I mentioned earlier, and this was the friend that puked at the sight of the fetus!

Hey AE! What a thread.Very interesting to see peoples initial reactions. Especially the folks that admitted to jumping to conclusions. Much respect for thoseguys. Non hunters would have egg on their face trying to make an issue of a legal bow kill where the hunter actually took the time to investigate all the facts involved in his kill. I have seen AE on an elk kill examine each organ to find the cause of a quick pile up. So I know this was done with no disrespect to the animal. I think the lesson here is ask questions before you criticize. Especially in public.

P.S. Ken,240 days and counting.

P.S.S. Hello Mrs AE. Keep him busy.

This will get interesting...pass the popcorn.
Never stop bowhunting! It does more than you think. It relieves stress, it helps you hunt better, and all kind of other stuff. I wouldn't turn myselft in either.[&:]

Cheers!

I dont know what hunting class you graduated from but one of the fist things mine taught about shot placement was be sure of what is behind your target and beyond before you take your shot. So about what to do you probably already did the right thing by turning your self in, this being a public forum and all.

I find it amusing that after eleven pages of revelation, there are still some people who must not be reading before jumping to conclusions still... ;)

AE after reading your post and all other 100+ posts in this thread,I have a couple of things to say.First off yes your post is decieving, but it shows exactly howjudgmental some members here are.Second there is nothing uncommon with a doe in my area having multiple fawns in her after Thanksgiving. Our deer start breeding in Late September. If I were to take a doe right now she would have a fetus approximately 5-7" long or longer.I have seen does taken in late Dec/Jan with squirrel sized fetus'.If you take a late season doe you should go ahead and assume she has been bred. So,if you do not wish to kill pregnant females with visible fetuses then don't shoot a late season doe.True there are alot of fetuses in gut piles, but other than having something to look at (which is rather disturbing/odd to me)there is no sense in keeping them....Show some respect, and bury it with it's mother..

I thought about this thread last week after I killed a doe and after gutting her there was a 3" fetus on the ground. After further investigation, I found another. Got you beat AE, I killed 3 with one shot.
