I Never have been able to touch a deer,... but my father who was a big fox hunter has been able to sneak up on a fox and grab its tail. The closest i have ever been to a deer is probably 3-5yards.

Last year, my neighbor (who gun hunts only), had a small buck (6 point)pass by so close that he poked it in the ribs with the end of his gun. He said it almost turned itself inside out getting out of there!

I touched a deer once. Back in 2002 I was out turkey/deerhunting with my bow and saw some turkeys comming up thetrail/road on my way into my stand soI got in the brush when all of a sudden the 8 point buck that I had been watching and seeing everyday since the opening of Bow season came within arms reach. I tried to get a shot with the bow but he was way too close to even draw. SoI reached out and touched him,I came pretty damned close to being kicked in the head as he bolted off. Well weeks went by and the end of bow season came and I still hadntgotten a shot at the buck, yet I saw him every single day, we kinda had a love hate relationship.I loved seeing him, and he hated seeing me. But he always showed himself just out of range even in the wide open open fields. Well opening day of gun season came and I had no doubts that Id have him dead by 8:00am. And thats exactly what I did. 7:58am to be exact. Scored 128 3/4.

A few years back, I had a 5 pt. bed 20 yds. from my tree. After two hours of waiting for him to get up so I could leave I had enough and started throwing stuff at him to no avail. I decided to sneak down the other side of my tree and back out. I got to the ground undetected. What he did detect was me pulling my bow toward me from where it had settled. He got up and preceded to walk a circle of about 10 yds around me trying to figure out what I was. Itried to keepthe tree in between both of us. He eventually relaxed and started to feed towards me. I ended up with my back flat against the tree with him no more than 5 ft. away sniffing the air just looking at me trying to figure out what I was. He eventually just turned around and walked away, not spooked at all. Needless to say Scent Lok earned Kudo's that day in my book. It was an awesome experience.

Can't say that I have touched adeer in the wild with my hands. I have spit on them and peed on them, neitheract got a reaction.

I just missed touching a young elk this fall as he went by me in a hurry. He came to the call and was just a few inches outside my reach.
