Default 22-pt. NY archery buck....

After seeing Canuck33's post about the great western NY buck that he killed this fall I thought I post some photos of another awesome NY bowkill from this past season. Believe it or not....even NY can produce some slammers every once in a while.

This deer was taken here in Steuben County on November 3. As the story goes...the guy who took it actually arrived late that morning and was still 200-300 yards from his stand when this big guy came by chasing a doe.He managed to slip an arrow through him at less than 10-yds. while on the ground. That must of been an adrenaline rush!

There were lots of rumors going around about this buck being poached due to the fact that the head was cut off like it was. However, a guy that I know from my town is friends with the hunter who shot it...he said that the deer was not dead when he walked up to it, so the guy started to panic and in the heat of the moment cut its throat without even thinking about the mount. There was a photo of the hunter with the whole deer in the local paper a couple of weeks ago. The state DNR (called the DEC here in NY) looked the deer over and found no signs of foul play. I don't know if he plans on getting a new cape to get it mounted with. I can't image killing a buck like that and not getting it mounted. Anyways...I just though you guys might like to see a big bowkill from the northeast. For you NY' ers on here...a short story about this deer was featured in the December 12th.issue of the NY Outdoor News.

I definetly would have hired a photographer for that buck.

I am guessing he is not going to get it mounted??

Seems like once he got his senses back he would have saved the cape. They most likely could have fixed it even with a slit in the throat. Seems kind of odd. Helluva buck.
