With how smart you appear to be I'm shocked you couldn't tell he was kidding. It was rather obvious.

Understatement of the year.

Is there anyone out there that can't see these pics very well??

I looked at this thread on a different computer today and the pics looked terrible.

I think its obvious I didn't believe you were joking (no smilies) and I certainlydidn'tget that tone from your post. Maybe thats my fault; maybe I've even over analyzed this whole post, but unfortunatly your comments had an all too familiar ring to them. My area is filled with so called "hunters" who have a way of rationalizing all their "bending" of the game laws. Our Game wardens can't even begin to compete with all the poachers, tresspassers, baiters & feeders (they are different yet both illegal in NY)......ect. Maybe this is a prime example of being careful "playing" with "new" people. I still don't agree with your actions; Its still illegal; and I still think your actions of posting it on the net in public view sends the message that is OK.
However, you are stretching when you twist my words to think I claim not to break the law. which I never said and you again missed my point entirely; You don't see others nor myself taking pictures of our breaking a law and posting it in public view as if it were OK or justified.
Perhaps I did get carried away someand heated not realizing you were joking - like I said, in my line of work I deal with a lot of scum who have no problem breaking the law and justifying itto themselves. I'm man enough to admit that; But your activity is still wrong.

There used to be Statesigns posted all over the Adirondak Park camping areas stating "To feed a Bear, is to kill a Bear"; I think this holds true for any wild animal. They have survived for centuries on their own; and when people feed them - your actually doing them a great disservice. I understand you claim you have a unique situation; but i still think there are better alternatives. There is always a solution to these "unique" situations. A couple valid ones were already mentioned about a petition to the DEC, town, ect...and a feeding ban.

Any logical adult would have seen I was joking.........as if someone would post pics like that and then say they weren't feeding........not only that, just about everyone here already knows this from my yard pics every year..........except for you who jumped into the middle of everything and started blasting people without knowing anything about anyone you were addressing.

My area is filled with so called "hunters" who have a way of rationalizing all their "bending" of the game laws.
I really hope you aren't calling me a "so called" hunter........please clarify this remark.

Maybe this is a prime example of being careful "playing" with "new" people.
No it's not.............I don't have to be "careful"..........you need to excercise better judgement before you go implying everything under the sun when you have no idea what you are talking about.

I still don't agree with your actions
I don't care if you agree with them or not..........I'm not here asking for your approval.

Its still illegal; and I still think your actions of posting it on the net in public view sends the message that is OK.
The only message it sends is there is a nice buck in my yard and I took some pics for people to look at and enjoy. If it's something you are not interested in then next time I suggest you just don't click on the thread...........very simple solution.

However, you are stretching when you twist my words to think I claim not to break the law. which I never said and you again missed my point entirely; You don't see others nor myself taking pictures of our breaking a law and posting it in public view as if it were OK or justified.
So when you say you break the law it's not a problem because there is no picture of it???........That is really weird logic.

Let me give you a little piece of advice..........when you make idiotic statements like the above quote it can be read as you equating me to this law breaking scum........THINK about what your typing and how it reads to other people and you may find yourself being "misunderstood" a lot less.

We aren't looking for a solution..............READ the thread and you would know that.

We help them get through the winter..........and in turn it keeps our damage to a minimum. These deer get nothing from anyone all year 'round until the snow falls.

You don't know what you are talking about. I don't know how many times I have to say that before it sinks in. We are not killing anything. I have seen the same deer year after year after year. The does almost all have 2 little ones in tow and the bucks grow to ages they would never dream of reaching on huntable land...........their antler growth also shows no sign of poor nutrition. These deer won the friggin lottery...........all they have to do is not run in the street and they will live long, happy lives.

You're letting your imagination run wild and it's creating scenerios in your head that just don't exist.

Atlas what is your justificationof your constant arguing?

Atlas,
I don't see the need to clearify that remark for you, its simple "I KNow" & "My Area", hmm; don't know you & you obviously don't live in my area - No Deer paradise like that around here!
* you're reading too much into my statements; the only thing I called you is a liar, because I didn't know you were "joking" I call a spade a spade - If I were refering to you I'd say so. I don't know how to make it any simpler, your twisting my words & meaning with partial quotes trying to change the subject or detract / draw attentionfrom my point - its wrong to break the law, and I FEEL your sending the message that its ok to break the law by advertising it here.*
Again, never said when I break the law its OK. Again, twisted. I don't brag about it; because its hard to be proud& show off something I did wrong. Ill-gotten gains. You promote your illegal behavior by showing it off; I don't show it off because I'm not proud to break the law! Both behaviors Wrong, your just showing it off because you believe your right to break the law. Simple enough for you?
Finally, If your not looking for a solution; thats a problem. Your not doing the deer any favors here. Unless there is another super secret special twist; these deer are not being hunted - hence, unless you have the coveted secret Mountain Lions of NYroaming your preserve; the deer population will have to exceed the habitats capacity eventually. Thats simple biology - no hunters; lots of feed. Sooner than you think these deer will be totally reliant upon your feeding them; or there will be serious winter kills from starvation. But I'm sure there's another excuse as to why that won't happen.
What makes your situation worse is the fact that there are NO Hunters; and your not letting mother nature run her cruel means of population control. I still fail to see your logic & justification; but I'm sure you'll still try to convince me.
oh well.

I may have gotten hot headed when i didn't know you were joking when you denied feeding the deer - hence me calling you a liar; and I know I've made some mistakes on this thread because of it (like getting interupted and not finishing my post on the hunting hours & stand comment - for which I have appologized. However, that doesn't make my point any less valid - Your proud to break the law and flaunt it. I'll own my mistakes.
However,
If your not looking for a solution; your the problem. In the long run you are doing more damage than good. I would think as a hunter who respects his prey as I hope you do; there is a harsh reality here that you are not willing to face.
Deer will over populate an area with No hunters, No exits and plenty of food. Longer living deer, healthier & larger numbers of offspring will soon equal over population. Thats a fact of life.Oh, but wait, because i made a couple mistakes; I obviously don't know ANYTHING.
I'm sorry.
As for your joke being obvious; I've lost count of the number of times I've seen people caught red handed doing something wrong / illegaland have them deny it completely. We have a saying at work quoting these types of people- "deny, deny, deny & make counter accusations"; so yes, I easily bought into it. I'mSorryfor calling you a liar.
